This post is about how we can solve the problem of
unable to access selected memory.Messages will be stored to phone memory.
The above issue wont occur for people who have set the phone memory as the default location for storing SMS.
You connect your S60 V5 in mass storage mode using the usb cable to the PC. Then you detach it from the PC. The phone returns to normal mode. While you try to access your SMS you will get the message.
unable to access selected memory.Messages will be stored to phone memory.
In your SMS screen all the messages stored in the Memory card will not be there. Do not be alarmed. It is nothing to do with your card. Your card is fine it is not corrupted.
When you put your phone in mass storage mode the phone does not have access to the SD card. so to handle the sms that comes in during the period the OS changes the settings to store sms in the phone memory.
goto
settings-->
phone-->
application settings-->
messaging-->
other-->
memory in use-->
change it to e:Memory card
(E: will be the default drive letter for memory card for most phones check what is yours)
Once you do the change you will get access to all you SMS stored in the SD card.
The OS has to reset the setting to previous value once to phone comes out of mass storage mode but that doesn't happen leading to this issue.
I have tested this in Nokia 5230 and this works fine.
