A company called www.shapeservices.de have an Instant Messaging (IM) program for various phones, I emailed them to ask if a version is / will be available for the P800 reply as below :

Go to http://www.tipic.com and you will find a PERFECT IM for yoour P800. It can connect with MSN / ICQ / AIM / Yahoo!!! You have to register for free...

I looked at tipic.com and see that it runs through Jabber servers which I have never been able to get to work successfully. where as the IM+

Having ready the tipic site the jabber server is a cheaper way (data transfers cost wise) of using IM implimenting connection enhancer to reduce the use of wireless bandwidth and minimize memory occupation on the phone.
I will give tipicME a try on your recommendation 😃
Which version do I need J2ME: Java(TM) 2 Micro Edition
or pJava: Personal Java and is it easy to get up and connected to ICQ, Yahoo IM ?

I know all your things you wrote...and your absolutly! right! But tipic is the only one software for IM on the P800 at the moment. And it works very fine with MSN AIM and ICQ. No idea about Yahoo..... go to http://www.tipicme.com
Just Yak also works with the P800. In fact i Never got Tipid to work 😞 Justyak was the one that worked for me 😊
But they are charging from tomorrow for its use 😞

Really? Its been awhile since I last used it, I guess ill have to try tipid again, maybe it will work with my new upgrade..
I've tried JustYak, and did not like it.
I've installed tipicME and registered, also downloaded the PC version. Can connect via PC version but not through phone. Get error message 406 Not acceptable, which according to Jabber.org means incorect username or passwoord. Have check both of these on phone and thery are correct.
Any tipic users have any ideas why this does not work.

I just installed tipic, and after a search in the forum found that to stop the 406 you just put your username in the settings without the @tipic.com
Tipic works just dandy, and my contacts were so impressed that I was doing IM from my phone.

How much are they charging?
Mine just stops at 80% and freezes there 😞 Still cant get tipic to work..
make sure you dont have @tipic.com at the end of you username, thats how I got mine to work and go past the 80%

Absolute magic 😃 , I just started tipicme on my P800 whilst in the cradle and it has connected through my LAN connection. No need to run my PC version now.
