pants!

I've just finished installing it.

At the end of the installation an 'OK' dialog appeared with the message "Map Apps can be installed to your homescreen manually". In the background I see that the startup screen is of the same design as Store, Social and Chat.

Tapped ok and...blank screen, oh dear.

Task switcher allowed me to kill the Maps process.

Restarted phone.

Tried Maps again...

Startup screen...ok
Message: "Maps - Welcome!" and then a large amount of data warning.
Tapped Start.

All seems to be working ok. All my favourites are loaded and previously loaded map data is available.

Hmmm, no Menu button on the map screen.

Right then, after a couple of minutes tapping around the screens I closed Maps and restarted it just to be sure it was working ok, and it is. Love how smooth the 3d panning is, even around modeled landmarks.

Screen grabs attached.

Four more screen grabs.

I had no idea what Map Apps was going to be so I added the widget to my homescreen (replacing the Social widget) to find out. I have to say that I do like this way of using Maps and navigating. Already not missing the Menu button.

The menu is gone! That's why is so fast now... I really like this new design... will take some time to get used to it but it's fine... used it yesterday to walk in my city and was great! But still has some bugs... for example select walking as default and the icons still show driving as the current one!
