This seems to be a decent PuTTY client for my N8. I'm not a telnet power-user so I can't comment on power-functions, but it does what I need which is:
The big problem is that you can't see your terminal window while entering text, but as we've seen, this is fixed in Anna.
I just switched to Fring, after using the Java eBuddy client for a long time.
I tried a Symbian touchscreen port of PuTTY/S60 the other day (can't remember if it's this one, or if there is only one (!)). It logged into my Synology NAS box with no trouble, though I was using my Apple Bluetooth keyboard rather than the onscreen one, which definitely helped - I guess the latter would be a real pain when it comes to SSH.
One thing that worked like a charm: if you use an HDMI display as a monitor, PuTTY can use the available screen space, so you can set the font size to a readable level.
Very handy app to have, if you ever need SSH on your S^3 phone. (Not that I often do, but... well, you never know 😉 )
I use this app all the time as I need to remote-administer my web server from literally anywhere. Great app, and so easy to use on an E7 because of the keyboard.
Didn't know it took advantage of the extra resolution via HDMI -- this would be the first third-party app I've noticed to do that.
