How to clean up N8?

My N8 has recently started freezing and restarting from time to time since I installed Nokia Sleeping Screen and tried to install an unsigned Symbian game (which didn't work, of course!).

After uninstalling a few Ovi games, Google Maps and Moible Documents its still running slow and freezing. I'm sure that the memory has an amount of rubbish on it and that is the reason why its going slow.

I'd like to wipe the memories - micro SD card included - and start again by re-installing PR 1.1/1.2 from Ovi. Perhaps a star-hash-7370-hash reset will do this - ? I don't know!

What I'm wondering though is how I can avoid losing my Mail For Exchange settings, as apparently a wipe can interfere with these, according to other posts in this forum.

Not too bothered about other software and map data - will re-install as and when time permits.

I'm absolutely not a computer whizz, so memory browsers such as Xplore and the like are completely beyond me (in any case, I can't get hold of such software from Ovi here in China).

Does anyone have a foolproof way of doing this that they can recommend? I'd be much obliged! 😊

thanks very much, that's what I want to do, but just wondering if I need to format the memory card after backing up to Ovi - just to make sure nothing hangs around from any of my old failed installs. Wld this be necessary, do you think?

I always seem to make things more complicated than they really are!
