Can't delete applications — Symbian^3 phones (N8, C7, C6-01, E7-00)

Hello everyone,

I have been trying to delete / uninstall applications from my N8. This is what I do, and this is what happens:

1.) Trying to delete Application from the Applications Folder:
Message: Unable to uninstall. Memory full!

2.) Trying to delete / uninstall Application from the Installed Applications
folder under Settings:
Action: My N8 keeps scanning for all the applications. One night, just
for testing, I allowed my N8 to scan all the applications. The
scanning went on till the the next day morning. The only way
to stop this: restarting my phone!!

3.) Trying to delete / uninstall Application using Xplore:
Message: Can't delete file_name.file_type

Now, I dont know what to do to uninstall or delete applications from my phone? Am I stuck with these applications now? I dont intend on performing a hard reset...

Please help..!!

As I don't have a S^3 device , I try to give some suggestions .
- Xplore is a filemanager , so it can't delete Apps .
- "Memory Full" : kill ( = Stop ) all Apps running in the background and try again .
- It's not clear what App you want to delete . Anyway Apps that come with the Firmware ( ROM or Z: disk ) cannot be deleted .
- There should be a possibility to delete ( non-ROM ) Apps by going to the App's Icon > Options > "Organise" > Delete ?!
This way you can also create New Folders , e.g. a Folder to park unwanted Apps , that cannot be deleted .

Open up the menu and select the option button at the bottom and select edit screen
click and hold down on the application that you dont want and select delete or uninstall

This will then uninstall it.

It sounds like your application database is corrupted (like mine) and the only way to get rid of apps is not to look at the database and delete it out directly.

Its times like this that I hate Symbian.. sigh..
