How can I fully customize my 5230?

Hello.
Coming from Sony Ericsson K310i where you could load a flash menu, I just got a well-known-Symbian powered Nokia 5230 and I want to customize the appearance and usability (UI-wise) as much as possible.
After seeing what can be done by changing themes, I realize that it's almost nothing. Just different colored fonts and icons and custom backgrounds.

So, I'm interested in either:
A. Creating flash menus or similar.
B. Programming applications which somewhat I can use instead of home (and main menu). Basically what I want to have is a fully customized "home" and small, non labeled icons in "main menu", so that I'm not forced to scroll, even when viewed as list.
Does anybody know to tell me how I could achieve any of these and what knowledge do I need?
Could I do it seamlessly, say -- start my app at boot time so that default home and menu are never accessed? (though I think home is loaded into memory at all times)
If possible I'd like to know the resources (mem/proc) possible loss.
