Ovi Store 2.8 download link

21 replies · 46,107 views · Started 09 June 2011

Can somebody make the Ovi Store 2.8 sis downloadable please?

I can't get the update because I do not have Ovi Store installed.

Going to store.ovi.com on my phone redirects me to download the app but it's still version 2.6.

Cheers!

if you download that and install it .. will you not be prompted for an upgrade to the latest?

try that and report back

by the way the version you're after is 2.08.042

I've not been able to install Ovi Store for a couple of months, ever since doing a hard reset after applying PR1.2.

To be honest, I expect that I'll have the same problem with 2.8 but I'll give it a go when I get the sis.

Thanks for the suggestion though 😊

there's a back-story to this .. I really should read these threads more often .. 😊
maybe just wait for Anna like everyone else .. man I'm getting old here Nokia!

Hi matthewleech

Just on the off chance do you have a sd card installed and do you have any folders with similar names to system folders on card ? The only reason I say this is I could not install Ovi until one time I tried without SD card and it worked! I had a folder named resource on SD card when deleted OVI worked fine - as stated - a long shot.

"Ejecting F: Lexar 32GB"...card removed.

Loading store.ovi.com...downloading v2.6.42...installing..."Unable to install".

*sniff* :frown:

Did you reboot after removing card ?

If OVI is not working due to some system file conflict the device should be rebooted without card to test.

Again a long shot - worth a reboot without card though

Just a simple power off and on - no full resets

Tried removing the sd card and cycling the power but got the same result.

Thanks for the suggestion though, it was something that I had not previously tried.

Matt.

Hi Matt

I put this search into nokia discussions forum which gave a few hits:-

link:

http://discussions.nokia.co.uk/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?filter=location&location=Board%3Asmartphones&q=cannot+load+ovi+store#/?location=Board%253Asmartphones&page=1&q=ovi+store+N8&search_type=thread&filter=location

I am sure you have already done this but the following posts looked interesting - The link in the first post may be broken but secong post from betalabs may be worth a shot.

``Simple solution to Ovi Store problem after Hard Reset
Hi everyone,

Yesterday, I was confronted with a problem that many of you may be experiencing, the loss of the Ovi store and Qt after a hard reset to the phone (in my case Nokia N8).

After searching the web, I discovered a post on a blog that solved my problem.

Hope it helps you lot too!

All you have to do, is download the app from the link below, and install it.

http://nokia.trac.wordpress.org/export/772/builds/symbian/WordPress_Beta_0_8_6_selfsigned_installer....

Afterwards, just press the Ovi store icon, download/install the Ovi store app as requested and restart the phone.

Voil!

The Ovi store and Qt based apps are working again!

Hope this post is useful to everyone that has the same problem I had.``

Re: N8 - Ovi store does not load correctly

Hey guys you know what I found this solution that let the OVI store installed and launched successfully. Now my OVI store is now up and running smoothly working.

Just download this file from beta labs regardless if your S^3 phone has QT 4.6 or .4.7.

Here is the link for you to download.

http://betalabs.nokia.com/c?n=17451&t=http%3A%2F%2Fnds2.betalabs.nokia.com%2Freader%2FOvi_Notifications_Support_Package_Symbian3_v1.1.11118.sis

Install it and download OVI Store, install and it will launch automatically.

Hope it helps you guys 😊

Hi boothy!

I really appreciate the help you're offering here, thank you.

The WordPress solution did not work. I tried several versions including the revision mentioned in the post, the lastest stable release and the latest beta.

Interestingly I was not able to install the Ovi Notifications package, it started to install but then resulted in exactly the same error as Ovi Store, that is "Unable to install"...not a very helpful message.

It was the button hard-reset and drive formatting that got me into this mess in the first place, so I have not tried that solution from your list.

There's no need to carry on with research into this for me, you've given enough of your time.

I would still like to try installing Ovi Store 2.8 though to see if it works, so if you find a download link let me know.

Many thanks,
Matt.

I had to do a hard reset on my E7 and I also ended up without Ovi Store. Apparently, the 4-finger sequence of doom or keying in #7370# messes up the Qt libraries so it's impossible to install Ovi Store again.

I tried the Wordpress beta installer, Qt 4.7.3 components but nothing worked. I ended up re-flashing it with the latest firmware, that finally fixed it and saved me a trip to the service center.

Ovi Store 2.08 is now in place for download when loading the Ovi Store web page on your phone's browser.

Unfortunately I still get the same error as reported above, "Unable to install" after the initial "Installing" progress bar reached 100%.

Ah well :frown:

I tried to attach the sisx to this post (as .sisx, .sis, .zip and .jpg!) but it kept failing, maybe it was due to the filesize. So I've made the download available here: http://mattleech.com/?p=421

That's the same problem I had. In that case, flashing is the only way to go :frown:

You can either get it done at a Nokia care center or go the DIY way - download Navifirm to get the correct firmware and Phoenix to flash the phone. The DIY method is not 100% guaranteed to work and you can brick the phone, temporarily or permanently. I found most of the info on the dailymobile.se Symbian^3 forum.

Have you seen the article on home page by David Gibson - link here

I sure you have and did it work ?

matthewrleech wrote:It did not work. The Notifications Support Package installation fails with exactly the same error as the Ovi Store installation, "Unable to install".

Also tried a fresh version of the latest four Qt installation packages but it didn't make any difference.

Exactly the same here!

Did you correctly install everything before that error from the .rar he gave? I installer the first 2 and didn't install the Qt files cause I already had it installed from Qt SDK
