It's possible to put document and image shortcuts directly on the home screen with the Shortcuts or Favourite Apps widget. It's a great way to get to documents you're currently working on.
You have to create a bookmark for it first in Web - the URL should be file://C:/xyz.doc if the file is on C: drive, replace it with the drive letter of the mass storage or memory card and full path for the file. Then, in Shortcuts or Favourite Apps, select the bookmark. Clicking on it will open the default viewer for that file - Quickoffice for Word and Excel documents. Unfortunately you can't add bookmarks to folders in the Menu.
