Text Message Contact ID on Homescreen?

4 replies · 7,820 views · Started 21 June 2011

Hi,

I have just got a C7 and am surprised to find that when I get a new text message, it just pops up and says 'new message' but doesn't say who it is from?!

Am I missing an option or something? I can't seem to find anything to enable.

Surely Symbian 3 has moved on from the old S60 days, and you can now tell who is texting you without going into the menu system/message itself? Even S40 does that!

Thanks in advance

with number recognition is that you need to use full numbers in your contacts.

eg Seki +642112345678

where +country code operator code number

again the easiest way to do lots of these is do them on your PC (using Nokia Ovi Suite) / delete all the contacts from your phone .. then resync them from your PC

Hi,

I already had contacts with country codes in - there still doesn't seem to be any 'caller id' style notification when a new text message arrives.

However there is an alternative - I have enabled 'notifications' (or whatever it is called) on the homescreen, so a nice widget informs you of a text, missed call etc and who it is from. Much better than the ancient 'new message' or 'missed call' notification, where you have to open the pop-up notifcation and go into messages/call log just to see who contacted you.

Thanks

The standard notification doesn't tell you who the message is from - there isn't an option to change that - so I use the notifications widget too.

Hi all,
does anyone knows how to enable sounds for notifications widget? I used it for a few days but I had disabled it because I missed a lot of SMS as no sound was played when new SMS arrived.

Thanks.
