Bluetooth connection to my smartphone has stopped working!

Q. Help, the Bluetooth connection to my smartphone has suddenly stopped working. I haven't changed anything in the setup of either PC or phone and both have been rebooted several times. Any ideas? I'd hate to go back to using the cable, Bluetooth is just so convenient!

A. The most likely cause of the problem is that something within your Windows system has got itself corrupted. If you go to 'My Computer' 'Manage' 'Device Manager', do you see any yellow error icons? Right click on the rogue device and choose 'Uninstall'. Then remove your Bluetooth dongle/adapter, wait a few seconds and then put it back in again. This will force Windows to re-install it properly using the drivers already on your hard disk. After a few more seconds, Bluetooth should spring back to life and your smartphone should be recognised again.
