How can I speed up launching of my most-used applications?

Q. I’m always struggling to find and launch applications on my Sony Ericsson smartphone, the simple act of navigating between them seems to take an eternity. What do others do to speed things up?

  1. Don’t waste the five icons in the Application Picker, at the top of the screen. If you use any applications more than the five currently shown, feel free to set up their icons here instead. On the P900, use ‘Control panel | Application shortcuts’.
  2. Try to avoid having to scroll in any application folder. If you have more than 13 applications in a folder (as shown here), then it’s time to ‘Edit folders’. Create one or more new folders and divide things up with ‘Applications | Set folders’.
  3. Quite often the application you want is already running. SMan is free and has a task switcher that will let you go straight to any running program. Assign SMan your Internet hardware button for extra speed.
