Podcast subscriptions

Q. I've subscribed to over a dozen podcasts on my old Nokia smartphone and now want to get the same shows set up on my new one. But most of them aren't in Nokia's Podcasting directory - I've built up my favourites over quite some time and really don't want to have to type in all the URLs all over again. Isn't there a quick way?

A. Yes, Nokia Podcasting supports industry standard OPML files (Outline Processor Markup Language - this contains all the information you need for each show).

  1. In the 'Podcasts' screen in Podcasting on the old phone, use 'Mark all'.
  2. Again on the menu, 'Send' 'Via Bluetooth', to the new device.
  3. Once received into Messaging on the new phone, open the new message and you'll see 'Import OPML file to Podcasting directories'.
  4. Say 'Yes'.
  5. Back right out of the message in Messaging.
  6. Open Podcasting on the new phone and go looking in the new 'Received' directory - just select each podcast you want to re-subscribe to and hit 'Subscribe', of course.

There, that was easy, wasn't it? Well, a lot easier than typing in the URLs all over again!
