Where's all my disk space gone?

Q. Where's all my disk space gone? I get so confused by all the files and folders on my Communicator!

A. Did you know that your Nokia 9300 or 9500 included a clever little disk analysis tool? Go into 'Control panel | Data management | Memory'. For either the 'Device' (your internal flash disk) or 'Memory card', it'll trawl through your files and folders, adding up the space taken up by each type of file. The summary at the top of the display is updated as the utility works; when the yellow indicator vanishes then it's finished. You can use the up and down arrow keys or the navigator to scroll down the list of file types. Be careful not to confuse the numbers shown, with some in 'MB' (megabytes), others in 'kB' (kilobytes) and still others in 'B' (bytes). It's also worth noting that for a big MMC the analysis will take a while, up to a minute, so be patient. If you're wondering where all your disk space is going, this little built-in utility could be just the job!
