Why won't my Calendar entry repeat?

Q. I'm trying to set up some repeated entries in S60 Calendar, to remind me of various weekly chores, but even though I mark them as repeated 'Weekly', after pressing 'Done' they change back to 'Not repeated'. What's going on?

A. This catches a lot of people out. The field/line below 'Repeated' is 'Repeat until' and, for various reasons known only to the gremlins inside S60, this defaults to the entry's date, not to 'Forever', which would seem more logical. Therefore, when setting a repeat, press 'down' on the d-pad afterwards and give it a sensible end date for the repeat. You'll find that there's then scope for repeats to occur and that things work as expected.
