In the latest software disaster to hit my Communicator, the screen's black light intermittantly decides to turn off, and now, the shift key, the arrow keys, and two of the buttons next to the screen have all decided not to work. The only back-up I have is from this morning, complete with the problems. Big mistake that was. As the shift key doesnt work ive no way to format the thing. Is there a piece of PC software that will do it for me, as I dont have a usablephone at the moment.

Maby this will work
first format your memorycard or not is up to you.
Then you can put your contacts and sms/fax/e-mail, your personal stuff to your memory card. for safety.
and then try to install the ALL_NOKIA_9210_DATA.SIS and maby it will work so that you can format your NOKIA after for a clean system.
in the backup you made on you PC you can always transfer it to you nokia. (from PC to NOKIA) but you know that already.

Thanks again Fanta,
It didnt help but I appriciate the reply.
There is a ribbon cable which connects the phone to the keypad. This had come loose on one side and that was the cause of the keyboard and software problems. I did a format anyway because I wanted a clean install.
One thing, I made a backup of my 'faulty' system, I had a folder of text messages, do you know which file I need to restore to get them back?
Omar
i only know that if i want to install WAV or oder files i move them from PC to NOKIA.
so if you want to find you text messages you must look in the backup folder you made on your PC. (normally it is c\nokia folder) and look there where you put your text messages.
