C7 Crash - Apps Missing

Hi all

Just had my C7 hang-up when starting fMobi 2.0 (not necessarily blaming fMobi for the crash). Anyway, had to remove battery to turn the thing off.

I restarted and I have found about half of my apps missing. Have restarted again and still no change. All my apps are installed on the mass memory - which is still visible form Dr Jukka. No difference here between the apps that have gone (e.g. Gravity, Opera) and those that are still there (SymPaper, fMobi).

I can laboriously re-install all the missign apps and themses, but wondered if there's anything else I can try first?

Not as easy as I thought. Some things re-install quite easily (especially those outside of Nokia/Ovi store) but others will not. Nokia store thinks they are installed, but won't lasunceh them or give an option to download again.

Any way to "force" a re-download? Using Store QML Client 3.16.036 . Is it possible or worth going back to Ovi store?

So here's how I solved it. Might be of use to someone else.

Apps have been lost, but Store client thinks they are there so only gives a Launch option not a download.

Went to Ovi Store online and tried to use the "Download to PC" option. Unsurprisingly, as it's flagged as Beta, it wouldn't work.

But, I discovered a trick whereby I goto to Ovi store and get the URL of the missing app (e.g. http://store.ovi.com/content/999999?clickSource=search&pos=1) and munge the address to end /download (e.g. http://store.ovi.com/content/999999/download). Hit return and your browser saves an SIS file*.

This can then be intstalled via Ovi Suite. So I now have all my missing apps back.

*Actually some save as a SIS.DM filr but these can be edited to work by following these intructions: http://www.techlivez.com/2010/10/how-to-convert-sis-dm-dm-files-to-sis-files/
