Hi all
Following on from fastxt, the new version called fastchat is now available. fastchat is 'push to talk' or audio SMS as some may know. Instead of typing your sms on your keypad you can now just speak and your voice comes out of the other end of the recipients phone, rather like walkie talkie. All other features such as pictures and email are supported in this version too.
I know Rafe has been using it and hopefully there should be a review up shortly. Existing fastxt users can just upgrade with the new client, new users can sign up at www.fastchat.com.
Hi,
Now that the big boys are reaching agreement on PoC (Push to Talk over Cellular) and will be converging on this application area like a pack of rabid dogs, what have the initial impressions at AAS been?
Well we have Omar G's March review of fastxt (verdict: good but needs to be better) and the subsequent release of fastchat. There was some anticipation, but what there hasn't been is many follow-up posts about it (at least the search function doesn't come up with much).
Was Rafe going to review it? Well first of all it would need a group of (not just one) reviewers, as it is first and foremost a communication application.
Push-to-Talk apparently has already proved itself on other planets like Nextel-covered US (eg. gun-touting Florida), so it's been looked upon as the next killer app/miracle drug/wonder cure for the telco networks, who as we well know, are very much in need of it.
If anybody has been using this functionality, please post opinions.
Thanks.
How do you register to download this program i cant find a register section on the fast chat website.
