Hello,
I am sure others have done this - but a thread like this always helps people making decisions when changing phones.
I've had my Nokia 7650 since Q3 2002. I've just (today) received my Nokia 3650 and have spent the last few hours playing with it.
Benefits of changing to a 3650
---
Better camera (see photos below)
Access of log seems faster (fw v2.50 versus v.4.39 on N7650)
Includes RealOne in the "System" space - not wasting 1meg for it unlike N7650
Allows use of MMC cards expandable to far greater than 4meg user memory on phone
Includes 16meg MMC card
Includes video recorded app in system space (n.b. upgrade required for recording audio)
Doesn't have a bad habbit of turning on T9 when you are toggling between modes as much as 7650
Bluetooth audio support
Weighs less than N7650
Possibly better battery - its different anyway to N7650 so likely to have some improvements (hopefully not just weight)
Fascias (some purists may see this as a bad thing?)
Better handsfree
Drawbacks of changing to a 3650
---
Looks stupid (in my opinion)
It's definately a teeny model - nothing wrong with that as long as you don't mind
Keypad is unusual layout (although easier to get used to than expected)
Joystick/control is not as nice as on N7650
Larger phone overall in my opinion
Things I would have liked in 3650
---
MMC cards that can be hotswapped without taking out battery (would make it easy to swap apps and videos etc. on-the-fly)
A nice key layout 😊
I feel that the memory card overrules any bad points and its definately worth getting... I won't be getting rid of my 7650 just yet though 😊

Experience the thrills of unpacking a Nokia 3650 yourself - even photos of the jiffy bag! 😊

Nice pix, thou I got sidetracked by your Florida Vacation Pics 😉
Some of those would make nice backgrounds - and the videos are ideal for putting on the 3650! 😊
Best

Got about 20mb more of them somewhere(fotos not vids)
u got a nice view mate.
.. i'm still yet to feel 'as special' as when i first opened my 8310. man that box was cool.
i'm so jealous. u have english box!~ and *gasp* Yellow phone!!
*is very jealous*
i want a yellow 3650 cover. hmph.
interestingly though.. ur insides are blue.. mine were like a blackish greyish colour.. and i had a blue phone.. and i don't think it came in a bag.. maybe it did.. can't remember. my box was in full chinese.. aiyaaa...
Made in Finland 😊
Side notes now i've had it 24 hours:
With the non-joystick but the round thingy to navigagte I got a new high score in Tetris and beat my 7650 record by about 1,000.
The shiny blue light under the keys is worth all the money in my bank account 😊 (but you're not getting it :P)
The battery life is just as crap as 7650 😊 After a single day of playing its almost dead and I haven't made a single call from it yet except talking clock to check it worked 😊
Most exciting box had to have been the 7650 it kicked ass of 5210 I was replacing... followed by my first ever brick with a simcard lol 😊
If ever I wanted to replace my 7650, it definately would not be for a 3650. Nokia made a bad move with this one. It's a big step backwards. None of the so called improvements are worth a change of phone. There are better phones out there now than the 3650.

Errrr, Like what?
P800 maybe, nothing else touches the 3650.

There are only so many improvements you can do within the constraints of time, budget and what you need to to sell a phone... I feel the MMC (and blue LEDs!) make the 3650 worth an upgrade but as willbrady said only P800 touches it imho
the 3650 is still does not have any good reason for me to upgrade I am still happy and love my 7650.

All Nokia has to do is upgrade the 7650 with MMC and Audio BT and they will have a world beater. Changing the design the way they did was a bad mistake. :x (IR on side of phone, No cover for camera, Stupid keyboard, to name a few)
But for them to do that they will have to admit that releasing the 7650 originally without BT Audio and perhaps MMC (not really available at that stage) was a mistake. They are not very good at that.
One bad mistake in 3650 is the onboard video recorder not having sound. But I'm sure they'll fix it with firmware uograde.

I don't think there was any mistake at all with the release of the 7650. It came with those limitations on purpose. Just for a moment imagine if it came out with a whole lot more onboard memory, and bt audio etc. That would make the phone almost untouchable, and nobody would want to upgrade it.
It was already the best phone on the market even without those features. Nokia are smart, the next phone they release to replace it will be missing some vital feature too, so that you will be wanting to upgrade that as well. It's called marketing 😊
Evobit, that might be true, but the way technology is evolving, you'll have to upgrade anyway. I'm waiting for a Broadband phone
which one is better
(note that the camera screen protector on the 3650 are still intact, wonder does it make difference ?)
3650 clearer but darker... remove the lens cover it just distorts things its like holding some polythene over a camera lense 😊
but when i view it on the phone s screen, the 7650 picture quality is much more clearer, and the preview screen on the 3650 is horrible, the screen is like full of "ants"!!!!
anywae, now i wonder wheter the screen or lcd is the same between those two or not ???
deevon, I hope you have Photographer 2.0
I'd like to see the difference with this application between 7650 and 3650
The only reason I would upgrade my 765-0 at the moment is to get triband which I may need for a job I am going for, as far as I can see the 3650 would be easier to change to as it works just like it (but with BT audio and Memory cards), with they P800 I might have to get used to a few things.
About the pictures Deevonn posted, it looks like the 7650 put more gain into the path than the 3650, which with the first picture looks slightly better but with the second shows too many artifacts, I try not to take any pictures in that level of light anyway, I find that these sort of camera systems work better with bright light.
The only thing that 3650 is better than 7650 is memory. But its design is terrible...
Photographer on the 7650 improves the image quality dramatically (I recall it also doubles image size), photos look acceptable on a PC screen: I tried it for a while, but since I don't use the camera a lot, took it off to leave space for other apps.
If image quality is a concern to 7650 users, check that program out. Or for that matter, similar programs. I'm sure the forum is full of discussions about camera apps. :P

the screen on my 7650 and 3650 seem identical when contrast is set correctly.
I never noticed a real difference with Photographer 😊
