Farewell to Nokia - feel free to share your thoughts!

:black:

I was very excited back in 1995 when I got my first Nokia - the 1611, and yours truly had finally joined the mobile revolution!!

When people started to make fun of my phone in public, I decided to go for the 6150 - what an superb phone for it's time. Battery life was good and so the looks. It was easy to use, because it had exactly the same menus as my 1611.

Then the big choice in 2000! Nokia released the Communicator and the 7110. The 9000 reminded me of my 1611 and I realised that I might get arrested at a night club if someone searched me and discovered it. So I got the 7110 - a WAP phone with a big screen!!

In 2001 it was a choice between the 8310 and the Erriccson T68 and the Nokia won again, because it had a FM radio, really tiny and easy to use.

And then Nokia and I got divorced! I laid my eyes on a phone with the features I've always wanted, but could never have with a Nokia phone - yep, I met the lovely (and elegant) Sony Ericcson P800 smartphone. 😮ops:

It's sad - and I'll admit it, but the 'world of connectivity' demo video just blew me away. Never before did I thought it was possible to see moving pics on a mobile!! And what about the big screen? (I can safely say that I'm not bothered with a big(ger) mobile, because the functionality that comes with the phone and a larger screen, makes up for it very quickly - and that coming from a 8310 owner!)

So, it's safe to say I won't be marrying another Nokia anytime soon, which makes me kinda sad, because we've been married for almost eight years! But looking at Nokia's future phones, I just can't get excited about it anymore.

I'm pretty emotional right now and, before I start crying, I will say my final words : ''Farewell my lovely Nokia!''....*sniff*...*sniff*... Oh no, I'm crying now... I know it's pathetic and sad, but I just can't help it.. *sniff*

Well,i'm onyl trash taking because i dont have on yet,i really cant wait to get it,there are couple of problems i have to resolve first.

Get the cash, and finally decide between the p800 and the 3650.

This nokia Vs SE thing is a little bit sad IMO, afterall with a Symbian phone they just produce the hardware, The Nokia 9210 and 7650/3650 are just as capable I think...the P800 has it's advantages on certain tasks (PDAish tasks) over the Series 60 phones....but i'm sure as hell missing my 7650 now i've got a P800, thinking about going for a 3650 soon.

Go for the p800 ghostdog. Or if you want to stick with series 60 wait for the siemens sx1. By the way, although my previous (6210) and present (7650) phones were nokia i don't have a good relation with nokia. I find panasonic more to my liking. Not the tech revolutionary phones but surely the most stable (no bugs). Just waiting to see their first symbian phone...

Indeed the P800 is a amazing phone.....but for somereason I just get
prefer series 60 phones more
the 'world of connectivity' video could also be played on the 3650 right?
or no?the only plus point of the P800 to me is the big screen, touch screen
and the sound quality alot better then the 3650.....
MemphisX will the siemens sx1 be better or samsung sgh-d700??

I used both for now and tell you the truth .. the only thing missing in P800 are Application Software(which will building up in time) and The Joystick for games .... other than that I have to say P800 is the winner 😃 8) but I still like 7650 and I wouldn't stop using it hehehe 😃

Yes Marius, you can watch videos on the 3650,the sound will be only mono like you said. You can watch videos even on a 7650 with some small tweaks.
About the new Siemens and Samsung symbian phones.
They dont have bluetooth right?I'm so used to bluetooth and i think i will never buy a bluetoothless phone.

But how much time is that MaxiMus? There are loads of apps for series 60 available right now?I'm really stuck here, maybe i should get both,3650 and P800 😃
Do you guys know of some charity organization that gives away cash to indecideable people(Me)

Yeap, got mixed up,the Siemens has bluetooth but no camera and the Samsung has camera but not bluetooth 😊

Then keep your 7650 for the photos and wait for the other. Or better go for the p800. I may buy the n-gage if the price is low (at least twice the price of a gb advance), but not to replace 7650.

:agrue:

I use Mr P800 as my main phone and my Nokia 8310 as a backup. Not sure I would want more than one phone at a time, but the 8310 might be called for active duty if we're going for a big piss-up on a Saturday night.

I so do not want to lose my best mobile ever!!!!!

And you are not the only one pal. After all it's the best choice, having a monster(technologically) phone and a simple for the main job in special circumstances...

hi - the simemens has a camera!! (was playing with one at CeBIT so have my notes beside me 😉) - you are spot on about the Samsung - no bluetooth 😞 - but it has a twisty pivoty flippy screen you can fold back on your keypad if one was that way inclied 😉

Yea!! Siemens sx1 has got a camera...You got me scared there ghost 😊) the samsung phone is small but no bluetooth so whats the use!)Siemens sx1 will be great.Sx1 being a series 60 phone means that all apps for the 3650 will work on it?Right

Well, that is good news(News for me that is 😃 )

And yes,all apps for the 7650/3650 should work on the Siemens.

all apps work great!!!
and i was reading on one of the siemens forums people saying that maybe sx1 will have a limite of 256 mb?
you think thats true

Yeah .. I happen to read same argument about P800 too .. it makes sense but can someone verify this? Why is it so... is it because of the processor or what?

It's a limitation set by the memory stick/mmc drive on the phone. To set it more simple it is like trying to play a dvd on a cd-rom drive.

Perhaps SD is the way forward for people that want huge memory, it's would always be nice to have 512mb or even 1gb, but it's not essential...I'm happy with 128mb for the moment.
