Hi is ther a gameboy advance emulator for the 3650?
Gameboy Advance emulator
No. And we will hardly see coming any. Sorry...
why is tht ? 😞 😞
Well,CPU power might be one issue but i'm not sure about that.
but wot about games like DOOM and tht they work...
Doom is just ported. Not emulated. Emulation is different. The cpu has to translate and also run each command in emulation. When a program is ported the developer can change many things to make it run on this device. Doom7650 for example has smaller textures, smaller resolution, on music, very low quality sounds and so on... To make it more simple, doom for pc needs at least a 386 while a game boy advance emulator needs sth more powerfull than a 300mhz pentium2
i see
But don't loose hope. We may see an hle emulator soon. I am going make some learning on c++ (currently i know only some visual basic) and if i find the series 60 on cd i'll make some efforts on emulators, basicly an snes emulator, if not then older systems like nes, game gear,or better say what i found easier. I hope i'll have the power. Too much to learn and to be searched...
Maybe we could join forces,i'm starting to learn C++ too,i currently know some "C" 😊
Sure pal. If i'll start sth. It will be open source, so everyone will be able to help. But i have to find the sdk first on cd...
You can order for free or download it from forum nokia.
id actauly prefer a SNES EMULATOR over GBA id vote for SNES if its possible im sorry i cant program jus a lil bita visual basic lol
Well, neither can i,i have never programmed in some object oriented language like C++ but my moto is,better late then never 😃
You mentioned that you know some c. Believe me c is more hard than c++.
Well,good for me then! 😃
BTW:I found a tutorial at http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/
I think its perfect to get anyone started, really simple and understandable.
If anyone has a better suggestion,a book,a video maybe 😃 let me know.
I just started to download last weekend a pdf file through kazaa. C++ in 21 days or sth like that. It's about 8megs in size. When i'll return to my home this weekend and complete the download i'll tell you my first impressions. Don't ask me it is legal to download this kind of stuff through internet... 😉
I have tried reading that book, found a lot of code error's in so a gave up.
Well, you can give it a try and let me know what you think after.
so what complier do you guys use? I'm very new to C++ and to be honest, the only programming I did before was basic about 8 years back 😃 .... so any pointers to get started?
Well,i have only used Linux gcc.There is a win32 version too i guess,best of all,its free.
Not to daunt anyone, but Symbian C++ programming, in my opinion, requires extensive OO knowledge and a affinity for delving deeply into 100's of object specifications before you get as far as displaying a piece of text on the screen.
A better idea would be to learn J2ME/MIDP programming which is considerably easier and still use OO concepts, giving you the chance to get used to it before you throw yourself at the wall that is Symbian programming 😊

hm. what're going to do about diskspace. GBA / SNES roms req. quite some space.
You know if emulation is not possible then porting some games of it will be another solution. But do not expect anything to come from me. I believe it will take me more than a year to present at least my first symbian app. By then i would already have bought my n-gage or another series 60 phone...
And i use ms visual c++ (part of ms visual studio 6). By the way i have seen an snes emulator for palm devices. Unfortunately it is slow and it can only emulate super mario world...
sounds good
good luck to you guys. i'm thinking about turning my hand to some Java midlets or symbian stuff but I think you'll need to know more than just "how to program in c++" to make an emulator. There is a big difference between "being able to program a bit" and software engineering. Knowing the language and OO will be necessary to get started but what you actually have to do with this knowledge is another thing.
Does anybody know if there is a project or something to make a Secret of Monkey Island version for the 3650?
By now I have set Monkey theme as my ringtone, but playing to the whole game on my mobile would make all my dreams come true...
