P800 touchscreen not working sfter Opera surfing

I was on the net, and the battery status started flashing. I disconnected, and now the screen will not respond to touch... Is there any reset button which will wipe all data. I cannot click on the final box for the master reset option in the Control Panel Menu.

Many thanks

BTW I think the P800 is amazing, and just found out that Trafficmaster in the UK provide a service giving local traffic information.

Often the sollution, is to reset the system, because your Internal Cache has been filled, therefor there Isn't enough free mem to load the touch module. Otherwise use the Jog dial. This can do the same as touch.

If you wanna do a master reset without the stylus then close the flip and do the following thing:
Jogdial Up * Down Down * Down *
Now, choose the fifth option. That's the reset

I usually remove the battery and power back up.. This is a hardboot that's not required I'm sure, but it works. I had the same problem with my T68 at times. Holding down the power button doesn't seem to work. I've upgraded to R2D, but I haven't seen the issue yet.. Check out a site like Hotmail.com and you're liable to crash. Maybe this version has fixed this issue as well.. Anyone teseted those pesky email sites yet?

Hmm... Using the keyboard to enter the * is the same as using the styli, right? So that's not a possibility either...

This is a well known problem with the P800. Once the touchscreen is unabled, the phone is beyond reach. If removing the battery and restarting doesn't help, you will need the help of a service center. They will flash the phone for you, thereby killing all data since the last backup you made...

well now you can master reset with the help of the new remote control for p800, http://my-symbian.com/uiq/applications/applications.php?fldAuto=248&faq=2
install on your p800, and pc, then open app on p800 with the help of your jog dial, and voila operate with your pc as the remote control and you can now do a master reset! 😉 😉

Nice progie, but the concept is kinda weird. The P800 would more likely be used when one is away from a PC. Thus, that would eliminate the need for the remote software. With that said, the only advantage I can see is if one has no internet access on their pc. They can then utilize the P800 to surf. However, the remote server that allows one to access their desktop pc from the P800 seems more productive and demanding. In any case, at least developers are getting clever.

Actually Bigfeat, the purpose of this program is for those people who worked on there PC's all the time. This way, they can just connect their P800 via IR, BT or the cradle, and everytime a text message comes if, youcna reply right away via the PC and not poke around the phone on the cradle(which is very hard) You can then use the keyboards keys and mouse to send SMS which is very convenient.

MusicFreakah: I couldn't find any settings that would allow one to connect via network. It would be helpful if that were the case. I only have one cradle and about 3 PCs and laptops. I also don't have a BT dongle for all those PCs. I'd like to control my P800 from any room. So network connectivity would be my only option. Since my GPRS data package is cheap I wouldn't mind communicating over a network with my P800 at all times. Plus I think that would definately extend the communication range from the 10 meters that a BT dongle allows to an infinite distance.

how do you stop the internal cache from being overfilled?

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe that this was fixed in R2x, so if you have that, don't worry 😃
