formatting will erase all including the logs.
how about using file manager to delete the logs? I'm not sure if the correct key is the c:\system\install\install.log or c:\system\data\logdbu.dat
c:\system\install\install.log
detele it and save some bit 😊
thanx
it worked just fine
:P

How much did you save ? My file is 1.86kb not much?
I suppose you can't unistall any programs now?
i save about 2k .......
have no problems with install new ones and then remove them ...
when you install an app and it does not have the file install.log it create a new one....

yep, the directory you need to be careful with is c:\system\install. If you remove these files, you cannot uninstall the app (unless you reinstall it first)
Also, if you compress this directory (will compress to 25% aprox), the apps will not show in the File Manager!

If you compress this directory with Sdoubler and link it to App Manager, Sdoubler will uncompress the directory first each time App Man is started and the files are shown. Also able to install new applications without first uncompressing directory
thanks for the suggestion to delete the log files. it worked just fine! :P
Thanks for the tip...
i don't see much point in deleting log file.. doesn't clear up much space.. unless u have installed something.. 'questionable' 😉 .. but i am still yet to see any of those porno dialers on our phone (and hopefully they won't appear anytime soon!)
I won't delete the .log, you gain nothing with it.
well some 7650 users are "memory-worry-user"
anything that will give them an extra kb is nice for them - it made them say "oh yes... another space or memory was reclaim!"
Stacker and SDoubler compacts contacts like 3kb or more - users like or love it simply because it gave them the feeling that another memory is reclaimed.
If the user want to delete the log file - it does not mean there's a questionable installation.. its just that he is curious or want to reclaim even a single kb that he noticed useless for him. It is just like cleaning up your OS.
For me it is useful but I'm deleting it after I've sent the copy of Log file from phone to PC so that I have a record and I can trace on when did I install/uninstall an app which help me to find out on which app cause something that I dont expect.

Yes Daniatt that is the reason for the log file. To go back and see which newly loaded files could be causing a problem. Thats why it's not a good idea to delete it unless you have a backup. The space saved is not that much anyway
