It looks really nice, doesn't it! I'd be interested to see how input is achieved, but it's a far sexier form factor than anything we've got at the moment.
This is an area where Nokia (and, to a large extent, other Symbian backers) have a clear lead. They aren't scared to 'think outside of the box'.
Look at the PocketPC. That form factor hasn't changed since WindowsCE; a grey box that looks like a Gameboy's illegitimate child. The new Microsoft Smartphone 2002 looks like a cheap Sci-fi prop. Once you've seen one, you've seen them all.
TBH I don't like it, where's the keyboard? The reason I didn't get a "gameboy" styled pocket PC or Palm is because I need a keyboard. Flash design is good, but usability needs to come first.
That photo had been avalible in the press section of the Nokia site for quite a while. It was listed as a concept 3G phone, although I can't see it there now.
Ericsson's (Pre-sony) 3G concept communicator was even better! I'll post a picture if I can find it on my PC again. ![]()
BTW, the guy in the photo above has a right thumb which is significantly shorter than the left... wow ![]()

EXATLY....WHERE'S THE KEYBOARD...the keyboards sooooo much faster than a touch screen(virtual keyboard) input method. You always end up hiting some other key instead. Its very irritating.
Most of the 3G phones are listed on this one site & unfortunately most dont have keyboards....perhaps because voice commands have totally taken over by then. ![]()
Enjoy the Future

They use brainwave input, there's a special adapter that goes in your ear to get signals from your brain. Unfortunately the side effect is you become permanently deaf in one ear.
see other pix from 9510!
I would think the 9510
1. either docks into another unit which has a fast-typable "Psion 5mx" type keyboard.
2. has a separate keyboard which communicates with the 9510 via bluetooth.
Hi there I work in the mobile industry and this was indeed a 3g concept phone Nokia were raving about a couple of years ago. They even made a few adverts to show the potential of it. No keyboard as at the time they believed voice control would have taken over more than keyboards, still might do. If it was noisy area then If my memory serves me right they had a device which looked like a bluetooth pen.
I 'd love a new Commi integrating the solutions you described. It would be really very nice, but I suppose voice and OCR software are not at that point yet ![]()
Might be sooner than you think Ericsson are hopefully releasing a bluetooth pen end of the year. You write the message on something that looks like a bit of paper and then it transmits the message to the device being used with the pen. Looks promising, able to write in your own handwriting
i think that the hilden is the 9510
if you know your german!

Thanks for the enlightening reference - I will show as much patience as I can till 2003 (should I say 2004 taking into account all possible delays?)
