Hi there,
Is there a way to format a phone by special key combination or switch or something? The reason I ask, some files on the C: have become corrupted, so the phone won't boot, and so I can't *#7370# it. I've been to 2 different NSC's today, and both could not fix it.
Help!
Cheers
How did your files get corrupted?

Can't the NSC flash your phone to restore factory settings? I dont think there is any other way to format phone that cant boot up.
Have you tried the bypass of startup procedures? The important thing for that is to have your unit into the phone mode.
There is no way a user can courpt the Z: drive or the ROM section.
If you do a hard reset as in *#7370#, you should able to resolve all problem you encounter.
I think you still encounter back the same old problem then I believe your phone wasted, pal. You ought to bring back to your nearest nokia care centre for a exchange since your warrently still valid!
Thanks for your suggestions.
The files on Z: are still intact, as far as I'm aware, it's just the C: ones, preventing the system from booting.
I've tried all sorts of key combinations, typing *#7370# blindly, etc, no luck.
The NSCs just say that it can't be fixed. A further enquiry has told me that the service software (I assume they use Phoenix?) simply cannot "talk" to the phone, hence they cannot wipe it etc.
Yet they still are not willing to give a replacement, like they should...
Some dumbass service centre people know nothing. Have you tried calling Club Nokia?

I agree it's not a case of can't be done. More likely they don't know how.
Got it working again, thanks to Dazler and his "key" trick 😉
Cheers
who's dazzler and what was the key trick?! some of us may find it usefull sometime... (hope not!!) :-?
It's Dazler 😛
j2k how hard may I shout "I told you so? 😃" hehe just glad it works again.
For some reason some phones will not completely boot after a restart or a failure. They just get stuck on a white screen. (talking about 9210 and now 7650)
I blame this to residue power left in the circuits and by my experience shortcutting the pins that connect the battery on the phone (with a key for instance) can solve the problem.
This is not a proven theory, and it could have all been luck.
Like said before, glad it works again j2k 😊
Thanks again 😉
It didn't work the first time though. I tried it again in the morning before I switched it on, heard the "Beep", then switched the phone on. Then it prompted for the date/time and has been working ever since.
Cheers
