7 replies · 2,985 views · Started 15 April 2003

ive recently paid for the screensaver application from nokia software market which they sent me as a zip file.i havent got any bluetooth or usb socket on my pc so i have been sending the zip file to my orange pop3 server on my hanset and trying to install it directly from the email server.apparantly it needs to be converted to a sis file which the handset supports.

how do i do this?

thanks

love you n00b. 😊 FIRST Unzip the package you received from market. Use winzip. www.winzip.com.
Secondly after youve unpacked the ZIP you get .SIS -file. Send this file to
your phone using mentioned pop3 account. When you receive the mail look for option attachments and you will be seeing the sis. Click the file with your joystick and BOOM! install process starts.
😮

In Ireland Vodafone doesnt provide prepay custumers with pop3 mail servise it is only available to after pay custumers (bill). What solution could u recomend?

ive converted it to a sis file on disk(102kb)but when i try and send it via email i get a message on my pc saying 'the message could not be sent-an error has occured'.

i havent got infra red or bluetooth to try it with unfortunately.i havent even got a usb port on the pc!

What type of BT device to use with Nokia7650 I mean class I or II, cose shop asistant didnt knew wich one will work, one was 66 other1 80 euros. NSC recomended TDK, but I cant find it in Ireland.

Sounds like your email is not properly set up...

More likely your account, but also while you're there check your connection settings. Email has got to go over an internet GPRS access point, where the IP has got to be 0.0.0.0

Re the account, make sure that the a/c exists - set it up on your PC and send a test mail to yourself there. Then replicate the settings on your phone.

Try ringing the Nokia national help line, ask for "data". Since they're working with only a few operators they know all the settings, they can help you with the access point, and probably the email account as well. Ring from a land-line so you can configure the phone.
