Incredible Case

Having spotted the Piel Frama cases on P800er.com I checked-out their own website:
http://www.pielframa.net
Ordered a case via the net on Saturday, received a confirmation email on Mon' morning & the case arrived Tues' morning - Spain to Northern Ireland in one day for 60euro all-in!!! (prices include world-wide shipping)
The quality is FANTASTIC, I've never seen better leather, you can use all the phone's features in the case (only taking it out to use the cradle, easy - just slides in and out) very strong and positive belt-clip (quick-release). Storage for two memory sticks and a stylus.
I've had many cases for phones, etc. over the years and never seen any as good as this - check it out:

one thing I notice about this particular case is that the P800 will hang up side down from the hips. Will there be a chance that P800 falls off. 😮

hogrider, glad to hear you've had a good experience with Pielframa, I've been considering purchasing it too. I live in Spain and can tell you that the town of Ubrique (where Pielframa is based) is FAMOUS here in Spain for their leather products, all types. Reassuring to hear your good news, thanks.

I had the case for almost a month now and I never had any problem with it. The phone will never fall because it has the double button strap to hold it. I have no complains and I highly recommend to any P800 users out there.

That good to hear! :P

Yeah...This is old news.. I've had mine for about 3 weeks now and I love it.. Mine is made out of crocodile skin.. Didn't want to go with the average leather look. Talked to the manager personally and it seems they take pride in the quality of their craftsmanship. I'll post a pic of it later.

Indeed - I'm sorely tempted to buy one. I had a very nice leather case from Vaja for the old Palm V, but they don't do anything with SE yet. But photos - YES! Post 'em.

I was wondering how much extra bulk the case adds - I'm really not a belt-clip person, preferring to drop the phone in a front pocket (think: Chinos) instead. Is this gonna work? Does anyone pocket it in this case?

Also - what color did you get? Happy?

Thanks!

All the cases I have ever bought (for a phone)I end up not using because

a) too bulky for a lot of uses

b) case seems to effect reception and some calls dont get through

I REALLY like the look of this case though

can I ask do my above points effect the use at all and also......

how do you answer the phone?

do you take the phone out of the case or take the call with the leather 'flap' hanging down? how does it best work?

thanks

Had this case for a month now and it is great! No problems whatsoever. But if you plan to put it inside your pocket, i wouldnt get it. It adds a considerable bulk to the phone.

Definitely too bulky for shirt or trouser pocket (unless you wear huge clown trousers 😃 ). It fits okay in the inside pocket of a jacket though.

Doesn't effect reception that I've ever noticed. Certainly I've never missed a call. In fact, I was on a boat on Sunday over to Dublin, Ireland and it maintained reception the whole of the way accross when everyone else's phones lost their signal. I've been amazed by the reception and clarity of this thing so far.

I tend to answer calls with the flap hanging down. Tried wrapping the flap around flat against the back of the phone, but the MS duo fell out!

But if you don't mind the extra bulk and use the phone without the flip (can use it with, but it's far easier without) then the case is fantastic.

This case seems awkward if you want to answer the phone while it is in the case hanging on your belt. It also seems like it would be awkward with the dangling flap cover to talk on the phone with it in the case.

Can anyone confirm/deny this based on personal experience?

Thanks!

I use the handsfree that came with my phone most of the time especially when I am driving. But there are occasions that I can't use the handsfree. So I have to get use to answering my calls with the dangling flap. But I am not bothered though. Soon I will be getting my BT headset, that should solve it. 😃

Only if you constantly leave your BT headset on and readily available. While in the car, this would be fine because it can be charge. But when walking around this would be a problem (for me at least) because the standby time of the headset isn't really good so the talk time would be bad as well. I typically answer the phone using the handset then power up and transfer to the BT headset it the call is not going to be quick.

i find that the krusell case is so much better...It has cut-outs for everything- including the headset jack, stylus, internet and cam buttons, jog-dial, infra-red port and on-off power switch.

it's also soft leather, so it easily fits in your pocket...and can be charged while in the case.

I agree personally I like the Krussell better. Less bulk and fits on the cradle whilst still in the case. I have both cases. The Piel is beautiful, and the build quality is excellent, it looks very luxurious compared to the Krussell. The Krussell has better access to all the features, but does not protect the camera at all. The Piel has the double button catch to keep the phone secure, but I feel the phone is more secure in the Krussell. One thing though, with the Multi-thingie belt loop whachamecallit the Krussell is actually deeper, but only where the connector sticks out.
Nothing is going to make this phone look discreet in your top pocket.

I'm sticking with the Krussell, so if anyone wants to buy my Piel (all boxed and as new) let me know, I'm going to put it on eBay (UK) shortly.

I disagree with that statement.. I had the HB-15, HB-30, and now the HB-60. Not one time did I have the headsets crap out on me because I left it on. I actually have the "speak caller name" feature enabled on my BT. When I get an incoming call the BT speaks the name of the user about 2 times then the phone begins to ring. I clip the BT on my shirt and leave it idle all day.. I only keep it on the charger at night. Amazingly enough I haven't run into serious battery depletion with my HB-60. Talk time was decreased due to the decreased size of the battery from it's precessor (HB-30). However, I have not changed my routine as to how I use the BT and have noticed no difference. I even had a 2 hour conversation on the -60 once and made a call 30 minutes later without recharging or turning it off in between that time.

The performance of my HB-60 is not as good as yours. Either yours is better than normal or mine is worse than normal. I'll have to look into this further. Thanks for you feedback! 😃

I really do not recommend this case. . .it is difficult to answer the phone, you can't see who is calling without opening the case which is incredibly inconvenient. I have also heard some people complaining that they have lost their additional DUO sticks as they have fallen out of the additional slots in the case cover. . SO BEWARE! The designer is obviously a PDA user and not a phone user. I wrote the owner of the company to suggest they produce a case with their quality level but designed closer the Krusell case which have a plastic cover allowing you to see who is calling when the phone rings. They didn't seem too interested in what actual users thought of their case. . .the owner seemed arrogant (not interested in the customers point-of-view) and clearly not a user. I DON"T RECOMMEND BUYING THIS CASE AS IT IS EXPENSIVE AND DOES NOT DELIVER ON A POSITIVE USAGE EXPERIENCE.

After 1 week using Piel Frama, Im recommend it to everyone, really nice case, u can use it with or without flip, can put 2 spares MS duo, but it would be better if you have bluetooth headset 😃
