Memory Card Reader/Writer Error

8 replies · 3,906 views · Started 24 April 2003

Rather than using the quirky Blue Tooth to upload heavy MP4 files, I decided as was suggested in this P800 forum, to buy a Six-In-One Memory Card Reader/Writer (I bought the Iwill CR611 model) for expeditious uploads to my 16 MB original SE memory card. Although it appears to write the files from my Apple Titanium powerbook operating on Mac OS X (10.2.5), the P800 is unable to read them, registering such files as errors. Has anyone encountered such problems and found a solution to it? I don't have this problem if the files are uploaded to the memory disk via Blue Tooth from my powerbook.

Did you put the files in the right folder? It only reads video-files for example, if you have put them in ms.... --> P-Series --> Multimedia --> Video --> Unfiled (I don't know exactly by head, but it should be something like this).

Hope that solves it

Hi!
I wrote them into an mp4 folder that I had created from the P800. This folder contains a previous mp4 file stored via blue tooth and which is readable with the Video application. Just bought a 64 mb memory duo card and am checking if it will work somehow.

Nope, it ain't writing well on the 64 mb memory duo card either. The files are just errors. Hmmm...

Hmmmm... IWILL Card Reader SUCKS!! REALLY!!! coz the last time i got the same problem transferring files for my 9210!!! the reader eventually corrupted my MMC!!! my advice is to be careful with the reader... not every machine can handle it... not even your POWERBOOK i guess... i have tested it on my TOSHIBA SATELLITE and my COMPAQ DESKPRO... both failed successfully... hehehe... so i sold off the bloody damn thing...

I'm planning to get the APACER CARD READER... have tried it before and it seems okay...

p/s: the IWILL runs okay on my friend's COMPAQ notebook... hmmm???

I have always been a sucker for gizmo gadgets, therefore the Nokia 9210 and now the Sony Ericsson P800 plus all the accessories that I bought to go with it. Hmmm, so this Iwill memory card reader/writer works for some and doesn't work for others, huh? I wonder if my client who introduced me to the P800 would be interested in the gadget. He's operating in a Windows environment. BTW when is coffee time?

Too depressed to think of coffee today. My SE P800 got flicked off from under my nose. The trauma of this loss is simply devastating. See my other post in this forum ...

Hi, I have had problems copying files to the memory card using a PCMCIA memory stick adapter. The diles on the card would become corrupted ... and not just the ones I had copied on!

I have sinced ordered a PQI usb adapter so we shall see if that works. I haven't tried formatting the card through the PC yet but it may be an issue with the way the P800 formats the card that causes the Pc to corrupt the data.
