Hi
please can someone recommend some software to edit .wav files for use as ringtones ?
I've tried using Nero wave editor - but when I edited a 5K .wav file by cropping one second of the end, the saved file was 98K! I don't understand.
Any advice gratefully recieved D
Thanx bday
Try cool edit by syntrillium software.
It has more than enough of features on making and
editing different filetypes.(wav,mp3,pcm ....etc)
there is also a trial period of this program out, with
some limited features if you want to test it out.
well, that would be my choice 😊 have fun
I use SoundForge and its great.
The standard sound recorder of windows does the basic job. The nero editor is also quite good. The reason the file was bigger is because the file was saved with bigger samplerate bitrate etc. If you want to in one step ahead with better customization then go for cool edit or soundforge. Both are great...
I use a fully loaded 192khz pro tools rig with prisim converters, autotune the wav file, and then master in 5.1, compress with a 1176LN and add mulitband harmonics and sub bass.
😉
Only problem is beaming it to the nokia with that crappy pc suite software.....anybody tried that oxygen for symbian60 software yet?

By 5.1 do you mean dolby digital? it is useless to put a 6 channel sound file on a mono output device that can hardly have sound quality at least equal to 22khz...
And by the way bear in mind that you can only use as ringtones midi, amr and wave files. Wave files must be encoded as pcm, adpcm, gsm and... There are a two other codecs also compatible with same quality, and bitrate as pcm. Make a search on series 60 multimedia forum. You'll find a thread i had created some time ago about compatible wave codecs...
Well, just to see if the ringtone sounds good, better test it out on my 5.1 setup.... 😉
galo baska 😊
