@Muzikfreakah,

I converted the friends epsiodes myself using the tips from the sticky thread 😉

they run really smooth. 30mb per episode so u can fit up to 4 if nothing else is installed... 8)
I've encoded a full Friends episode down to 14.4MB, still with pretty decent quality..
@Raven,

Could you share your settings to convert the files into mp4?
Would like to try some to and get it down to 14 mb 8)

Hi,

Cranium has offered to host some video clips for me. He told me that he would have a FTP ready for me on monday where I can upload some clips, and then he'll post a link to his private site where these clips will be available for everyone.

Cheers

Great news!
I'm at the moment on holiday but once back I can upload some too in around a week 8)

I've encoded 12 full Friends episodes now, some of which are brand new, just now playing in the US.

I decided to make them in what I consider to be the most "watchable" quality, which gave a size of 18.3-21.2MB per episode, but most of the clips are exactly 19,5MB.

For those of you who don't have a 64 or a 128MB mem stick, just let me know if you wan't me to make some of the clips smaller, ok.

These are the ones I've encoded so far:
Friends - 809-The one with the rumour
Friends - 822-The one where Rachel is late
Friends - 902-The one where Emma cries
Friends - 904-The one with the sharks
Friends - 905-The one with Phoebes birthday dinner
Friends - 908-The one with Rachels other sister
Friends - 909-The one with Rachels phone number
Friends - 910-The one with Christmas in Tulsa
Friends - 911-The one where Rachel goes back to work
Friends - 917-The one with the memorial service
Friends - 918-The one with the lottery
Friends - 919-The one with Rachels dream

So now I only need "Cranium"(or someone else) to provide me with a host.

Cheers

OK, I've got my own host now, but I'm not sure if everything is working ok, so can someone please test it for me. The site is here.

I've only uploaded one Friends episode, but I'll upload the rest as soon as I know if everyone can access my site.

Thank you.

@Raven,

Just downloaded the file and am transferring it to the p800 right now!!!
😃 😃 😃

Great move thx allot... :multi:
Can't wait to take a look at it...

watched it - quality is good for the file size, almost the same as the 30mb episode I did, meaning I will prob switch to your files 😃

TAAAAANKS ALLLOT RAVEN 😃

Thanks for the support guys! 😃

I've just uploaded a 14.4MB Friends episode for those who only have a 16MB DUO.

Hi

While many of you are gloating over the MP4 videos of Friends, I have not been successful at playing those files downloaded on my Apple Powerbook. I downloaded Friends 902, 904 and 917, and all three gave error messages saying it contains invalid MPEG-4 audio data? I have not tried fownloading them to the P800 via bluetooth but if it can't read them on my powerbook, I don't think it will on the P800 unless its not meant to read other than on a P800. Any resolves on this? Thanks!

Hi Ghazalie,

They won't play on a computer using Quicktime, something about wrong audio codec or something... I'm not sure why that is, but they
will infact play on the P800, trust me I've tested them all.

Cheers

Oh yeah, and one more thing that is maybe not obvious, is that you have to right-click the link and select "Save target as..." if you have Quicktime installed on your computer.

Hi Raven
Thanks for the input. A series of events took place last night. I tried downloading the Friends mp4 files onto the P800 via bluetooth but it couldn't work as there was insufficient internal memory (7 Mbs available). Then, it got me wondering as to how the others have been successful at downloading the 19 MB Friends files. Was it done via a memory card reader/writer, I asked. I have a six-in-one memory card reader/writer (Iwill CR611) which I bought last week but it didn't appear to work with those mp4 music video files I tried to copy onto it. Then, a wave of inspiration came. I have the Sony Cybershot digital camera and decided to insert the P800 64 MB memory duo stick in it. Hooked the camera to my Apple Powerbook via USB and proceeded to copy one of the Friends episodes onto it. Voila and it works. But tell me, how do you copy those massive Friends mp4 files onto your memory stick?

I have packet video and I have to do the same thing. If I just clik on the target I cant find where it puts the file into 😞

Hi
In the Apple Macintosh environment, you just need to drag and drop the title, and voila, it downloads onto your computer.

Hey Raven tnx so much for those videos. I downloaded all the episdoes today and it worked perfectly on my P800. Now that 128MB Duo Stick really comes in handy! Now will someone please convert a full movie to mp4? hehehe just hoping 😊😊😊

@Christomas: I guess one 128 MB wont be enough anymore 😊

Succesfully downloaded the files too! Thanks Again! I have the entire Lois and Clark series except for the last episode if anyone wants to convert them 😉
But tell me, how do you copy those massive Friends mp4 files onto your memory stick?
Well, I just copy(drag and drop) the MP4's directly to the mem stick using PC-Suite, but since you're using a Mac I suppose there's still a compatibility issue there. Takes some time though, but I've ordered a mem stick reader/writer as well to speed up the process. :bday:

I'll have a go at a full movie. Any suggestions?

Now I need a USB device to transfer all these movies with acaptable speed...

I LOVE FRIENDS ON MY P800 😃

SE don't be selfish, just give me a gig duo now... 😃

Watched my first entire episode of Friends (number 917) yesterday. Noticed the episode was not in synch with the image when it was about one third way into the show. The audio track was ahead of the visual. Is this a P800 buffering issue or was it this episode alone that may not have been well converted into an mp4 file?

Hi Ghazalie,

Hehe, I actually removed that file(friends 917) a few days ago because I noticed the very same thing. I tested the source file on my computer and I noticed that it made a pause exactly where it gets out of sync when you play it in the P800. There's nothing I can do about that, so I just removed it from my site. I'm trying to find a new one(Friends 917), but I haven't found a good one yet.. 😞
It's really annoying because that is the only one missing from Friends 910-920..

The others don't have this problem though, so I'd suggest you download a new one. 😃

Phew! What a relief to know that Friends Episode 17 is faulty. I thought maybe this second P800 of mine had some defect. Thanks for the response. I can now enjoy the other episodes with peace in mind. Thanks again.
Well i guess 128MB Cards would indeed be lacking now hehe! Well how about the new X-Men Raven? hehehe 😊
i actually tried to do the new x-men... but whenever i encode a file >10 min i get horrible audio/video desync... and i can't figure out why... and now my pc's dead anyways... so i wont get much progress with it really :/

Xmen 2 (Action in general) suck on the p800, all that sweet special FX /CGI doesnt transfer well.
Movies that (should) work:
Romantic comedy genre, anything Jennifer Lopez, Sandra bullock, A Sandler (*yuck*)
Mafia stuff, at least the character driven like Dinner rush, The godfather (bit long)
TV stuff, anything sitcom
