Sending midi files via MMS, why not?

Since I could not find any conversation about it, I'd like to ask why this has not been possible yet, especially from third party applications! I understand Nokia won't allow it (probably in an attempt to support the ringtone industry), but why hasn't anyone produced an application that would allow attaching a midi file (polyphonic ringtone, if you prefer) to an mms? The mms specification surely supports it!
It is quite strange to me, since we have already seen applications that support sending video files via mms.

PS. I think Ringtone Studio can do that ONLY if the recepient has the same program installed...

I have seleq, but although it displays an option to send a midi file via mms, it then displays a message saying it can't send it, as it is corrupt or not supported! Of course i have tried with different midi files. It works ok with amr files though.

have u tried Fexplorer?? thats free so it wont cost you anything

petran.. i have just tried it using Fexplorer and get the same message.."file corrupt or format not supported"
must be some program out there to do this.. cmon all you experts 😊
guess the only was round it is to send them via email but i guess you already know that

Thanks cliveuk. Yes, i know that, but the point is to send it to another phone actually, so email does not help. I wonder what do software companies have to say about this?

try to change the extension of mid to amr. I can rename it via fexplorer. I think that will solve your problem.

I guess Symbian is smarter than Windows so as not to rely on extensions for filetypes! It behaves exactly tha same when trying to send it, and plays it as a mid file anyway.

But why would we have to do tricks to attach midis in mms? They ARE supported files, at least in the mms specification!!!!
