New P800 MP4 Site

Hi Raven,

Downloaded the episode and it runs very smoothly, slight delay in audio but really cool 😃 When are you putting up the other episodes? and have you any plans for full movies? I have tried to convert divx movies using mpegable, pvauthor, etc with no luck, but I'm pretty new to this game and suck at it!

I'm uploading as we speak.. I don't really have too much webspace, so putting up a whole movie...well we'll see...perhaps later. I've noticed that the longer the clips are, the bigger the chance is of the audio lagging..

I'm uploading a Friends episode right now that is only 14.4MB in size, for those poor bastards who still only have a 16MB DUO. 😉 8) 😃

Can you give me the details of how you are getting such fantastic results (i.e. software and settings?). I really want to try to get a full movie on the phone, such as Reign of Fire. Based on your compression of 14mb for 21 minutes of Friends, you should be able to get RoF down to around 70mb??RoF is currently divx at 671mb and 97min long, what ya tink?

The 14.4MB episode I encoded was just for the people with 16MB sticks. With the best(IMO) quality the clip will be 19-20MB in size.

I use PVAuthor, which I still think is the best one(yes I have tried the others), I only wish the trial version would allow audio AAC kodec..

I set the bitrate to 104000bps, GSM_AMR audio 12.20kbps 8.00kHz mono WMF & 3GPP, 9.9 fps, variable-bitrate encoding enabled, fixed I-frames every 10 seconds.

I would think, with my settings, that a 97min movie would result in a about 80-85MB MP4.

Gee i cant hardly wait to see a full length movie on my P800! Am so glad i got a 128Mb Duo hehe! Maybe one of these days ill try ravens advice and try to convert a cool movie to mp4 😊

I'm one happy p800er, as I write I am watching Reign of Fire on my P800. Used your settings and it worked like a dream, quality is okay (to be honest, probably a little suspect) and usual audio lag is there. The divx version I converted was in widescreen mode so that how it currently plays on the phone. I'm getting my firmware updated to R2D next week, so hopefully I will be able to encode for full screen horizontal like vics (as I've heard this function comes with the new firmware). Any suggestions? BTW - file size is 73mb, took around 2 hours to encode.

OT: I just saw Xmen 2 two days a go and Equilibrium last night! Both very AWESOME movies!!!!!! once they are out on DVD ill make sure get them and hopefully by that time I will know how to encode them myself and also have a couple of more 128 sticks 😊 hehehe 😊

I download the a couple of Friends videos & I cant find them on my PC any idea where they may be?

Also I've got The Graduate full film that I have split into 5 chapters can I upload to your site for you to share & enjoy?

I would be really interested in what you think of the quality of the film I think its very watchable

Hi Monkeymagic,

I've actually not bothered to upgrade because from what I understand those new features aren't that great after all. The fullscreen video playback is actually just the regular size stretched to full screen with only 4-5 fps playback, which can only give a cr@ppy result. Vics handles this much better with about 10-15 fps smooth motion. Hopefully they'll release an encoder for the public soon.

As for the other features of the upgrade such as SMS delivery reports, I don't use it anyway. Camera improvement? -Don't care. Full screen pictures? -There's a 3'rd party app that handles this anyway. Full screen web browsing? -I only use Opera.

And to be perfectly honest, I don't like leaving "my precious" with those cervice point people, don't trust them. :P I'll rather wait till SE gets their act together and start letting us upgrade ourselves.

Besides, my "ancient" firmware is running perfectly as it is so... 😃

Hi Nigel,

I would suggest that you right-click the links you wan't to download and select "Save target as...". That way you can choose where to download the videos.

Ok, I've got more videos up now. Not every video is in as good quality as the Friends episodes, but that's because the source files weren't that good.

8) Oh my... just seen it... Equilibrium is the biggest surprise I've had at the movies in years... with a method of fighting called gun-kata, a mixture of martial arts and bullets, setting up the most creative action scenes I've seen since The Matrix... especially the sensational one-on-one gun-kata battle to the death. It's truly a breathtaking finish to a rousing gem of a thriller!!!
