Calling all 9210 Gurus/Experts

Im desperate. Calling all 9210 experts.
I have forwarded my problem w/ our Nokia center & they dont have a clue how to help me.
Problem I haven't been able to send an SMS for the past few weeks. Everytime I try sending 1, it goes directly to outbox-- Message sending fail. A note pops out-- "NoteNot enough memory. Close some applications then try again."
Facts
- I checked my settings and all of them are right.
- I checked w/ my GSM operator & its ok.
- I tried deleting files at Csystems/schedules but the problem persists.
- I tried backing up again but the problem persists.
- I sent it to Nokia centre for reformatting & flashing of OS but the problem persists.
- I checked my areas codes, sms center, etc but no luck.
- I concluded that its a bug in the 9210 system.

What do I have to do? Please. Any 9210 experts or anybody who has the same problem....HELP!
Anybody who will be able to help me, I will consider him, in my books, as the "GURU of er6 forum." User posted image

I had a similar problem, and this is what Vodafone told me to do.

Open up Messaging, and go to Menu/Tools/Account Settings/Short message and click edit.

Change the Service centre to another one for your conuntry (i.e if on Vodafone in UK, change to Cellnet). There is a list of SMS centres at http//groups.yahoo.com/group/nok_world/files/SMS%20Stuff/Free%20SMS

Once the Service Centres has been chaged close the Services Centres box and change the Service Centre in use to the one you have just entered. Close down account Settings and Remove the battery to roboot to make sure settings have held.

Once restarted, send a test message though the new centre (which should fail) and then go though above routine to reset back to your normal SMS service Centre.

Hope This Helps

Thanks for the reply.
I tried changing the sms centre from +6391702 (Globe Telecoms) to +639180000101 (Smart Telecoms), but to my surprise..it was able to send a msg. Didn't you say it should fail? I was shocked since Globe and Smart are actual competitors (2 diff companies) in my country. How on earth it was able to send?
Anyway, I will try to observe this 1, and will update you. Thanks again. User posted image

You may be able to send but did it get though! Mine are rebounded if I use wrong service centre.

Make sure you have reverted back to your normal SMS centre, and you never said if it actually worked if you did go back. If you have not these are the SMS centre no's for Phillipines, Globe Philippines +63-91702, Globe Philippines +63-91703, Globe Philippines +63-91704, Globe Philippines +63-91709, Islacom Philippines +63-9150200003, Smart Philippines +63-9180000101.

I hope it works as wrote from memory!

I encountered the same problem over and over again! User posted image I'm going to try out the suggested solution and see if it works.

Here's hoping!

Ey Paul,

I tried doing what you suggested, but it still doesn't work. I noticed that when I changed my Service Center to a different network and rebooted the system, it would go back to my original setting.

Help!

If it does this it means that the SMS number is set on the SIM card and the only way to change it is to put the SIM card into a different phone and change it there.

are you using your fax application on your 9210? did you happen to get additional number from globe/smart? thanks

Dude,

i encountered the same problem n this is what i did. i reformated my phone reinstalled from d cd all data from device reloaded my contacts and calendar plus d extra stuff i got (tones n other stuff). just dont use d backed up file for d others apps in d device.

worked for me n 2 of my friends. hope it works for you.

Thanks! Question: how do I reformat my phone? And how do I save my contacts for reloading it without typing it all again?

😃 Here's how...

First of all copy any data files you might still need (like your contacts) onto your MMC or PC...

Then remove the battery nice and slowly...

Put it back after a few seconds...

While the screen is white(blank) press Shift+Control+F.

Then format it by choosing YES.

Then of course you need to reinstall All_Nokia_9210_ data.sis file to the C drive.

Next you format the MMC card using the File Manager...

Then you install All_memory_card_data.sis to the D drive .

And thats all! Good Luck!!! 😃

It's a cool one 😉

Hehehehe... thanks...

I love your alien avatar too!!!
and i'm really curious.. what does "Te creavit Dazler mirabilem, Te respexit ancillam humilem" means??? coz that sounded pretty cool as well!!!!

I forgot 😮ops:
I had a bible once and just replaced all the 'gods' in dazler 😉 It had a cool meaning that's all I can remeber 😉

Alright! 😃 Thanks!

Question: when you reformat your phone and reinstall the software you mentioned, does that affect the version of the software? or will reformatting the phone have no effect on the software version? 😃

Thanks!!!!!

If your firmware is 4.13 or higher then u must only reinstall from the latest version software application... which u can get from the net or request it from NOKIA itself... the original CD u got might not be the latest version...

Again, thanks to all. 😊 I appreciate the responses.

When I got my phone, it was already using 4.13 software. 😊 But in any case, I'll just download it from the 'net.

Thanks!!!!!!!! I'll give you feedback as soon as I reformat my unit.

No Problemo... Its a pleasure... and May the force be with you...

Ok, now this doesn't make any sense. I formatted my 9210 using Nosferatu's instructions (thanks again for all the help), which went on without a hitch. The startup sequence happened, prompting me for a city, etc, etc.

I tried installing the all_Nokia_9210_data_v413 onto my C: drive (with approximately 3891KB of free space)...why does that .sis file say it needs around 5811KB? Am I doing something wrong?

So I still select my C: drive and it starts installing...then, halfway through, it displays this message:

"The file / folder is corrupt or unreadable."

What gives? Does this mean that the .sis file is corrupt? But I got this from Nokia itself! If not, then does this mean my phone has a physical defect???

Help!!!!!!!!

Hmmm... if i recall correctly, u downloaded it from the net rite??? it is possible that sometimes it got corrupted during download... what u should do try to download it again... or if its not a hassle just get it from your nokia centre... burn it to CD or sumthin...

p/s: and also make sure your cable is okay too... well connected.. during installation...

Hmmm...well, my data connection port has always been weird (whenever I connect my serial cable or headset it sometimes dies on me)...ok, I'll try that. I'll also try downloading the file again...but I've tried it 2 times, and it's still the same. Grrrr!

I'll give it one more go tonight...if it still doesn't work, I'm bringing it to Nokia. Heck, at least I got to manually back-up everything...but damn, using a 9210 with no software installed is....liberating. 😊 at least it works really fast.

Thanks Nosferatu!

😃 If you are going to NOKIA centre please dont forget to get all the installation files copied to CDROM for future installation... (bring your own CDR would be better..) and while u are there let them check your cable/port...

Hopefully your 9210 will be alive and kicking soon... coz i cant live without my 9210 even for few hours!!! 😉

My sentiments exactly Nosferatu...I'm using it now but strictly as for voice, SMS, and note taking functions. Argh! I can't even change my profile settings!

I'm bringing it in tomorrow...hopefully things will be ok.

Well, I had my phone reformatted and the software reinstalled. Now everything's works smoothly. Oh, and the original problem is gone, PLUS my phone works faster.

Thanks everyone!

Allrite!!! glad to hear that... anyway, did u do it yourself??? or it was sent to NOKIA???

I tried doing it myself...formatting was no problem. But I couldn't seem to reinstall the software on the communicator, there was always an error. So i brought it to nokia, and it cost me Php500...roughly US$10. 😊 Cost of labor.
