Send SMS over GPRS

Right saw an app [SMS Send] that can send sms over GPRS.
But in the sms settings you can already tell it to send over GPRS?
Why make an app for this?

Also when i set it to send over GPRS it does not seem to make a GPRS connection? Right so what is the deal here?

I've looked in the past for an option to do SMS over GPRS, but haven't been able to find it... where is it?

You can't use the phone settings to send SMS via GPRS. None of the UK operators support this, it's unlikely they do elsewhere either. The sms-send app hasn't been working for me last few days. keeps timing out, on the P800 and 7650.

It does not work to send sms over gprs on the shoe alone. If it did you would be charged for gprs traffic and standard sms fee. Im using an app that sends sms via a portal and does not go through my provider. Not free but very cheap 3p a go. And reliable. Vgsmail client its called. (3650 user full video with sound mms😊

networks don't charge extra you for sending sms through GPRS connection, they just charge you the normal 10p per message(i.e. orange)
I use GPRS connection to use my messages because it's faster and have never been charged for traffic through gprs.

Hey Bradfordlad,

Can you give us a link for this vgsmail client. Google search gives me nothing.

Thanks

i had the same thoughts as you guys as well but i read the manual 😉 it says that it sends SMS through ICQ (on a GPRS connection), and if youve sent SMS through ICQ before you'll know its free... useful, no?

Well, I just installed this Programm, SMS-SEND. But can anybody tell my how I have to do the Settings???
Its impossible 4 me to make this App running! Thanks 4 every help.

I read on the developer's website that ICQ's soliciters had asked him to stop making illegal use of their service.
