This thread included a poll: Will you get a SX1?

So will you, and if yes, what is the most driving factor.
a) Its a Siemens
b) Memory
c) Size
d) Design
c) Other, explain...

Plenty of options too 😃

I would like one so I can ponce about with an additional S60 phone, plus I rather like the form factor, and it'll be the wizziest S60 phone when it comes out.

Imho the currently most promising s60 device (and i definitely love s60). I would buy it for reason a-d, + i saw an interesting screenshot on a german site that showed that it will use the keypad next to the screen to improve the ui - looks fantastic! Here's the link, perhaps you havven't seen yet: german - auto-translated
But i'm sure nokia will come up with some new s60-device soon.

Not this lad.. I don't see much wrong with it though, other than the screen size being a tad too small for my taste.

And if what I hear is true, the SX1 will not come bundled with neither a data cable, MMC card, nor even a stereo headset.. How lame is that for a multimedia device with both a built-in MP3 player and a FM radio?!

Having actually played with one, yes I'll be looking at this as my new day-to-day phone (much as the 7650 is now) and any other devices would be the 'Programmers toys' (much as the P800 is just now).

Just a reminder there are some photos in the Photo Gallery (see links at top) of the SX1 at the Exposium (and Pub Meet)

I prefer the Samsung D700 for a day-2-day type of phone, and it's likey to be the next phone I get.

Not overly keen on the SX1 although it looks great, I'm not really a fan of these new fangled key designs.

I agree with Jodan, I like the Samsung D700.

However I think its good news that everyone has different preferences which means that all of the new phones should do well.

Its amazing that the phone manufacturers have managed to produce such a varied range of devices all based on the Series 60 platform.

i also like the D700 a lot, but i allready have a 3650 wich i am also very happy with. So i dont see the use of buying another smartphone. I've been saving for a couple of months to get the 3650, and the D700 is gonna be about 500. I dont want to spend so much on something that has just a couple more features.

I'll be geting the p800 anytime now(I hope)so i guess that i can sell my 7650 and buy the SX1 or the D700(I like them both)when they arrive, like Ewan said, mainly for day-to-day phone usage.

PS:If Nokia decides to release the communicator succesor and if it has those couple of things that the 9210i is missing:more horsepower,GRPS,BlueTooth etc etc i might ditch them all to get it.

What a night's work: I bought a p800,then sold my 7650 to get an SX1 or a D700 and then sold them all for the new communicator.

the only thing i miss with my 3650 is stereo sound, better speakers, and it is little bit too big... sx1 has it all + great display, radio, support for 512 MMC... you know it... I am selling my phone and buying sx1, most definitelly!

by the way, i dont realy like that plastic feeling of 3650. people who had the opportunity to hold sx1 say that it feels very robbust, solid. that is important to me, very much!!!

well since i lost my 3650 i guess ic ould get a d700. but now i feel like something new, and i think that new thing will be the i500. it has clamshell (which i've wanted for a while), external lcd on clamshell, polyphonics (samsung ones seem to have really good polyphonics compared to nokia), palm os (smartphone) and handwriting recognition.. and touch screen. so i think thats the phone 4 me providing its not 'too expensive'.

jeff.

I want it for a replacement for my 7650.. It's what the 7650 could have been if Nokia had thought about the potential of the phone.

Then as a follow up they give us the 3650. Which looks like the designers spent to much time in Toys r Us!

The Samsung looks like a nice option too..

Not liking the flood of clamshell phones coming out nowadays, the sx1 will be my next phone if nokia don't release something better or the same spec a whole lot cheaper 😊

the most driving factor.

a) Its a Siemens
b) Memory
c) Size
d) Design
c) Other, explain.............OTHERS

Most driving factors of the SX1:

1) s60
2) memory
3) design (not a clamshell!)
4) size
5) radio/camera/mp3 player!

that samsung is hideous, I'd rather a 3650 than that! It's only on par with a 3650 and it's more than 6 months newer! Samsung should stick to microwave ovens!
NO! I'll rather buy a Samsung D700😃
D700's Review
I know I'm quoting myself but I made a mistake! I meant a Mitsubishi. I don't find the link, if I do I'll post it here.
I suppose you mean this one, but afaik it's just a concept phone.
That one is INDEED!!! Looking forward for that CONCEPT!! 😃

ahh yes, the mitsubishi is the one clamshell I would buy... but I am not gettin my hopes up, as Ghostdog said.... concept is just that...

In fact I could make my own concept if I wanted.. :/
I wonder will nokia coming out their concept phone that show on TV 2 years ago?
which one ???

Without a question i would choose the siemens.

Driving factors of the SX1:
1. Memory
2. Symbian 60
3. Camera
4. Color Screen (65k)
5. Design & Compact Size
6. Connectivity (Infrared & Bluetooth)
7. Its a Siemens not Samsung :bday: , i reaaly didnt like Samsung past phone, i know they have a good color screen and sounds better than any phone, but they didn't have the more important feature (no enough memory for SMS, no bluetooth or even infrared sometimes!!, etc....) maybe this is not the case with D700, but still i would take my chances with the SX1 :agrue:
