I broke the small tip on the flip.

last night i broke one of the small tips on the left top of the flip. now the flip keypad droops in slightly into the screen making it difficult to press the buttons, i have to physically raise the keypad a little to be able to press the OK & 1 button.
Its wierd how fragile a thing like that could be.

Now can someone please tell me where i can order a new flip for my phone?

believe me its very iritating.....how a small tip can create such a big problem.

please someone post a website where i can buy it fast.

how about glueing the broken tip back while you search for a replacement flip? super glue will do well, though regular school glue can do the job and won't melt the glued edges as opposed to super glue.

i dont have the TIP...otherwiase i would have glued it back together the very same day.

the only alternative is to use it without the flip....but i dont like that. 😞 😞

but still better than lifting the keypad all the time! use it flipless until u find a substitute!!

U can actually get the flip from your nearest SE service centre... the very same place u update your firmware... over here in Malaysia it'll cost u around $15USD...

😉 Until u got the replacement i guess using it flipless is your only choice heheehe...

thanks for all the advise guys...

ive come to become a good friend of the guy you does the upgrades in SE india(mumbai)
so i managed to get a new flip through him for approx US$8.50

have just sent a guy from my office to collect...waiting for it..

thanks for all the advise anyways.

IM TOTALLY JINXED.....

i just broke a Stylus...thank god for the extra ones....
whats wrong with me....
:-?

And from now on, we shall call him, HamFist... 😉 😃 😃

My payback for being sarcastic then will probably be to break my own flip next time I pick up the phone.. 😊

I did the same thing on mine last month. Sadly, I lost the little tab so I couldn't reattach it.. So I've switched to using it flipless now.

I too broke one of the flip corners about 2 weeks ago, where it went I do not know and so I also could not glue it back on....
After 2 weeks of using it with the flip cover still on the phone I have become immensly irritated! And now the extra stress on the remaining corner has created a fracture in the plastic which looks like it will snap in the next week or so, argh!
I can't stand using the phone flipless, and I'm always scared the screen will get scratched in my pocket somehow. I will definitely be heading down to the nearest SE centre in London as soon as I can to replace it and update my firmware (currently R1D)....
I will post to say how much a replacement costs....

well, i guess the flip is not really high quality, because one of the pins also broke on mine.

i wonder what you paid for the replacement??

one of the smaller service points in belgium sent me a replacement for 16 euro, but it didn't fit in my phone. As the national repair center is close to my office, i went to see there for a solution. they told me the replacement flip i received was a fake one, but they were happy to say that they had an original replacement. It made ME happy too 8) , well untill they told me the price: 40 euro!!! are these buttons in gold or what???

does someone happen to know a place that sells a) original flips and b) at a normal price?

thanks!

as soon as i got my p800, i took the flip off as it doesn't look as nice with the flip, it'd be uber cool it the flip slid downwards though coming through the bottom bit ,

I had the same problem last weekend, with the right hand side breaking off.

I called Orange, and they had a whole new phone for me the next morning. I did just ask for a flip, but they can only replace the whole thing. Latest one came with R2F on it, not that I see much of a difference...

As has been said before, take the flip off.
Throw away the stylus too and just sharpen your fingernails to points!
If anyone asks, say you are a Buffy fan... 😃

Jamester, did you have an insurance plan thru Orange? Still haven't got round to replacing the flip or updated the firmware release yet, it would be good if these are sorted out for you by Orange....
Thanks

Like several other users I have found that one of the tips on the keypad flip of my P800 has snapped off. I can honestly say that I have used the phone keys relatively little (I use the P800 mainly as a pda with the stylus), and I have always been very careful with it.

I have spoken to SE regarding the flip and they say the problem is due to "user damage, as these things just don't snap off". They have also refused to replace the flip under warranty. Their attitude has greatly annoyed me, not least because I have been so careful with the unit.

It would be interesting to know just how many people have experienced this problem. Maybe we could get a better response if several of us contacted SE and suggested that this is a weakness in the P800's design. It's a shame, because in most other ways the P800 is superb.

I have the same probem and have had it since june or something. My service center never get new flips, so I have been using it until the other little wing also broke.

Now I have started to get angry about it and I called the Customer Care center in Sweden.

It seems to be up to each service center to determine if it is a warranty issue.

I also complained about the bad design and the response was: " Well, its plastic"

Well if it is plastic, consider that in design then!!!!

the carphone warehouse i go to (market street; manchester) is amazing, they'll replace anything, even if you didn't buy it there, i blew the right ear phone of the stereo heaset and they gave me a new one, no questions asked, i've also had the crasdle replaced because i didn't realise you needed to tilt the phone forewards before attaching it and so the connecter was really loose so i had that replacfed, i've not had any probs with the flip though as i don't use the flip, but i'd recommend any carphone warehouse service center😎

I can't believe how many of u guys have broken these plastics on the Flip 😕
I've been using my mobile for more than 5 months (tuff usage) and never faced any problem, and yeah I'm always using the flip!

guess every single element in the world would b broken if misused, and this is a delicate mobile for god's sake😡! so plz handle with care, it might survive from drops and scratches, but still needs some carefull usage.

I suggest using a P800 cover or bag to protect your devices, and I still think that Sony Ericsson is not responsible for our mistakes

although I like the idea of dealing with carphone warehouse (nk8) 😃

Notice that the P900 doesn't have small plastic lugs on its flip; the whole assembly is far more rugged.

Only another month to go, and we can upgrade to lug-less phones 😊

I've just put the flip back on my P800, so I can get used to using it again in time for the '900. 😃

Hey people

Why are you using the flip???

I can see no usability of flip.. The phone works great without it and it looks even fancier!
