uh oh... I hope the p810 won't be much different... I just got my p800 recently... I'd really hate it if it became 2nd class all of a sudden.

Glad to know Mineral Gray is available... but I still prefer the original color... thanks for the info though.

hi. i've been trying to use my gprs to connect to wap sites but nothing happens. i have no problem sending out mms msgs, but when i try connecting to yahoo, it just doesnt connect. i've tried opera and it doesnt work either. does gprs/wap surfing work on the p800? i've done the go p800 thing several times already. help?! thanks! 😃

Last week I went to Philippines for vacation and I was on roaming. Whenever I see that I'm connected to GLOBE, I couldn't connect to the web via GPRS. However, when I force-connect to SMART, I could easily and successfully connect via GPRS to the web, i.e. yahoo. With SMART, I didn't even have to change any configuration on my P800, I just started opera then keyed-in the site I wanted to go, that's it. Also, I've read from previous threads that people are having problem with GLOBE when it comes to GPRS connections.

Hi chinggoy! I am a Globe user and i have no problem surfing the net using GPRS. You can use the standard browser though you will have to do lots of scrolling with it. The best option is to use Opera, though you will need to reconfigure some settings from the info that you got from Globe. You cant check your emails from yahoo though. Somehow Globe blocked this feature to force their subscribers to use their email which they provide for a fee. Lousy move if you ask me

Games & Gadgets at the new mall beside Virramall (yung orage yung walls) has the 128mb MS duo for P6,200. Pretty cheap considering that you get it immediately after you pay for it. Beats the wait from Brando or P800er.

If you are going to buy it from an authorized dealer (with warranty) it is around PhP 37,000 ($690). In Greenhills (popular for cheap phones) price ranges from Php 32,000- PhP34,000 ($596-$634) that's without warranty.

Just be patient in looking for the store which offers the cheapest of them all.

I suggest you go to Semicon which has branches located all over Metro Manila.

Hello guys,

I'm a newbie with the boards, hello all!

I own a P800 and am filipino as well, but located in Hong Kong. Was just wondering if the service centers in the Philippines would upgrade firmware if my phone was bought from what they call "water goods" shop... ie. not from an authorized dealer.

Hope someone can help, thanks.

You can get an upgrade from any SEMICON branch... it takes 1 - 3 hours, and will cost you about P500 if you do not have warranty.

Redshoes: you can also visit the SE service center in makati. i suggest you go there because there are also available tones, templates, and pictures you can download for free.
😊 😊 😊

hey bigdaddy... i think you can send from smart to globe and vice versa already. when did you last tried it?

That's good news for me! Thanks for the reply guys!

I was just wondering about another thing, SE did imply that some phones are made with specific hardware and therefore they could not upgrade for me in Hong Kong... will it work for me in the Philippines if my phone was manufactured in the UK? (I think it is a Euro made phone coz the box says "made in France"😉.

But either ways, I'll be back in the Philippines this X'mas so I suppose I can do it then... any shop address/tel. I can call then? I'm not familiar with the shops/places back at home coz I've been away since I was a kid.

Thanks again for the help bros, so happy I can try to upgrade back home.

Oh also for those who would just wanna know, they are selling 128MB Duos here in HK for less than HK$500.... that's about 3000 - 3500 pesos depending on the exchange rate.

Hi Redshoes,

I'm based here in Singapore, and just now, I inquired SE service center about your situation, and here's the deal... they said that for non-warranty P800's the cost for the upgrade will be S$20.80 (which comes about to HKD$93.23 or PHP673.84) and would take about 3-5 hours depending on the queue. I also asked them, what if I bought my P800 in UK, and they said it shoudn't matter, except that there won't be any warranty.

So I guess, if you happen to drop by this part of the world, you may want to try it out.

it's good to know that the price for a firmware update is not that much. For my case, I asked my Singaporean friend to buy my P800 in Singapore because here in Cambodia all the phone shops doesn't recognize warranties except in authorized resellers (only nokia reselleres around here). I want my phone to have a firmware upgrade because everytime I compose sms with the flip closed, my phone just hang (a triangle warning sign shown). However, I couldn't ask my friend to send it back to Singapore because it takes him more than a month to comeback here in Cambodia. Anyway, does SE provided for a limited international warranty? Can I get the upgrade in the Philippines claiming from the warranty or do I still have to pay?

Thanks for any advise.

What SE Philippines require is a proof of purchase. I think P800 has international warranty but to make sure you can send an email to their customer service to verify this issue.

Whew!!! That's a very fast response bro! Thanks for that 😊 Anyway, can you furnish me an e-mail address of one of the SE service centres in QC? Do you know anyone near SM Fairview coz my house is just a stone's throw away.

Thanks again.

Hello guys,

Wow, very positive news indeed (at least I now know I can do it in the Philippines or Singapore where my company's headquarters is)... although I've tried emailing SE and their response to me here in HK is that they DON'T have International Warranty and thus they won't upgrade my firmware at all.

Hopefully they are kinder towards those not in HK, but the service here really drives me nuts.
