No problem. 😊
I'm having a problem with the GUI converter, I'm getting this error message: "Component 'Comdlg32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered:a file is missing or invalid" any ideas

Did you click the 'setup.bat' first? It's need to be installed.
I have this error too, and have done what the instructions said!
Maybe the OS.
Thats the common dialog box active x control. It displays the file select screen etc. It should be installed on your PC. I've attached it.
Copy it to c:\windows\system32
Open the Run from Start menu and type:
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\comdlg32.ocx
That should then register the component.
Good luck
Just a suggestion.
In the zip file include the missing .dll
In the batch file do not assume it will be run from c:\eyecon (when you double click a .bat file in windows it is run from the directory it is stored in. Also in the batch file add the full path to regsvr32, which is c:\windows\system and the line to register the second .dll
I think using a full path like C:\WINDOWS is a bit "dangerous" since there is the possibility of other system directories like C:\WINNT, and even other drives like D:\WINNT. Using the environment variable %SystemRoot% should always resolve to the right sys dir 😉 (But there is of course another problem, some Windows versions have System instead of System32, hehe.)
setup.bat is NO LONGER required.
But yes, the Comdlg file is required - apologies for not including it in the Zip file.
Cheers
this sounds like a brilliant program, and ive done everything you've said but i still have problems.
i get a system error from eyecon saying
"This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
if problem persists, contact the program vendor"
and when you click close a new error opens
"unsuccessful conversion
an error occured while converting file
possible reasons:
entered ear not eye
specified invalid eye
incorrect path
.eye is corrupted
OK"
now ive done everything it says and still the thing wont work please help!
the files run fine on fone so i know they are not corrupted.
Hi there, I'm getting an error whenever i try to convert an .eye file, whether i use the graphical interface or not...i read in the readme something about it not supporting audio streaming within the .eye file, so have tried having the sound turned off when i capture the videos but it doesn't seem to be making any difference. Any ideas?
Well, everything works with me but the video and audio still don't sync when converted to avi. 😞
big_head i get the same message. winxp, why is this happening?
i'm winxp as well, tried it on both home and professional, no difference. Same message as big_head...I managed to convert one but it isn't any different to the others I've been wanting to convert settings-wise....
Hi all. I beg to differ with j2's opinion (sorry bro 😊) that setup.bat is not required. For lazy people like me (and yes that means logging in too 😉), it is required. I had the problems like some of us posted earlier and this is what I did. First of all, I unzipped to files to C:\. This would create a folder called EyeCon. Using Windows Explorer, I execute setup.bat and some files are being copied to some where in Windows (never bothered 😊) and then VOILA, it works ! Try it. It may work or it may not work for you. If it still doesn't, shoot dfz (kidding !) 😊. Cheers all and thanks dfz for a REALLY wonderful program and to j2 for the nice GUI that saves me from typing commands all day long (working on a secure Linux distro is enough :P).

Fair enough, if the old setup.bat routine works for you - use it by all means! 😊
However, the first time the GUI launches, the contents in setup.bat are automatically executed, thus installing the required drivers, etc, so theoretically manually launching setup.bat is not required.
But, if it works for you, that's great 😊
Cheers
I had the same problems as everyone else - then I tried saving the .avi file into the same folder as the application (c:/eyecon) and hey presto it worked!!
If you try to have it save the created .avi to the desktop or another folder you get the corrupted .eye file error message.
Hope this works for you too! 😊
Another problem.. I run win98 and when i convert the file, all the colors are inverted... and video is upside down...
kinda strange..
hope you can help
Yug
i tried to save it in the same folder as the application, same problem. winxp says it wants to send an error report to microsoft, then i get the message about a corrupt .eye file. help

I believe with certain machine configurations the CODEC fails to determine the correct screen color depth, thus the inverted and upside down picture. This is being debugged and should be fixed in the next version. One thing to try (may not work) is to adjust the screen color depth to something else, say, 16-bit 65K color if you are on 24-bit, and vice versa.
Hi all , For me I was ale to install the converter and also I was able to convert the eye file to avi successfully, but when i tried to open the converted file using windows media player I can only hear the sound but I cant see the video. Please help me on this, THX

That usually means the NUB codec has not been correctly installed. You can try manually installing it by right-clicking on the NUB.inf file and choose "Install" from the popup menu.
I haven't been able to get this to work myself.
I downloaded it extrated it from the zip.
when i browes for my eye and ear file I can only see the eye
so I choose it and then I browes for where i want to save the converted file but it wont let me choose a folder. I click save and it just blinkes
so I tryed copying and pasteing where they are and where i want to save but no luck. It says can not open avi. file
any ideas why this doesn't work

Your welcome! The release date should be in the early part of July (the program is now out of my hand so I no longer control the exact release date). The price will be $9.95USD I believe.
I get this error message:
component 'comdlg32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid when I try to run ETI con GUI
I'm running XP and I did what is mentioned in the readme. copy the com file to win32 or whatever and extract files to the same folder (eyecon) and all my videos converted, mostly with audio sync intact
