Why are these MMC's so hard to come by?!?

I live in the good 'ol USA and can't find ANY brick and mortar store that carries a 128mb MMC!!??!!

I found one store that had them on it's site, but they don't carry them in the actual store - only on the website!!!???!!!

Seems like these things are harder to find than CabbagePatchKids were in the 80's......

Don't certain digital camera's use MMC's to store data? And if so, how/why can these things be so damned hard to find????

I feel your pain johngannon. I finally found one at a Circuit City store. Way overpriced, but my impatience won over my frugality. 😃

really? here in the phils., you will find lots just by going to the mall. Try buying online... it might be your only hope 😊

What malls do you recommend in the philippines? how much do you think would a 256 mb card cost? thanks

Here in Finland I paid something like 45 euros (abt. 53 usdollars) for an 128mb kingston MMC.

Remember that the 3650 doesn't support 256mb MMC's (atleast officially, might even work) before 3.13 firmware.

I'm from Cebu... Anyway, SM city has lots of computer shops there. I'm not sure how much a 256mb cost but the 128mb costs around P3,500...

There is a store chain in the good ol' USA called Comp USA. There are also such things as Best Buy and Good Guys. Come on any major or not so major US city would have several stores that would carry the MMCs.

Here in Moscow I paid about $50 for a 128MB MMC without looking for a bargain.

Thanks for your insight Krill, but if you had read my post FULLY *before* responding you would see that I called my local stores (bestbuy compusa circuit city) and they only carry them on their website.

Frys is a regional chaing located in the southern portion of the USA - so please, only respond if you have PERTINENT info on where to get them!

Thanks for all the posters who actually had something to say....

is it that hard?in england i just went into dixons and bought a 128mb mmc and a 256 mmc. Simple enough and it means I can store so much stuff!

I live in a metropolitan area of approximately one million residents.

We have CompUSA: they didn't have 128MB MMCs.
We have BestBuy: they didn't have 128MB MMCs.
We have Office Depot, Office Max, Staples: they didn't have 128MB MMCs.
None of the local computer stores had 128MB MMCs.
Finally, one Circuit City store had them (at $80).

Yes, it's that hard.

A metropolitan area of about 1 million... where is the metropolis? Anyhow, never had a problem locating ANYTHING in the following areas: San Diego, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Chicago. Yes it takes sometime to search for things but you find them. If you don't like the price still don't bitch, you found it. You all want your cake and you want to eat it to. Ever heard of supply and demand. If you want it cheap wait for it you want it now - pay for it.

Oh and Johngannon. You must be related to Richie Gannon. Same rude style.

I'm not griping (too much  ). I wanted it now so I paid the price they asked. It's just a pain to have to look all over town to find it.

"Chicago. Yes it takes sometime to search for things but you find them. If you don't like the price still don't bitch, you found it. "

Where in Chicago?

I have tried all the local Best Buys, Circuit Citys, CompUSA's, Radio Shacks, Tweeters, individual phone shops and the kiosks in the malls.

Where exactly else can I check for these things? The ONLY MMC I could find in the chicagoland area was in ROUND LAKE PARK which is like 45 minutes north of me!!! Besides the fact it was $75 for a 64mb MMC!!!

I'm sorry, but getting ripped off for an MMC is just plain stupid, so bitching about it is natural. If you have some magic MMC finding equipment, could you please point me in the right direction?????

My point was not that you won't get ripped off. The point is if you want it NOW then pay. If you want it CHEAP then get it on ebay or buy a Computer Shopper and look through it. Agreed that 75 bones for a 64 meb MMC is ludicrous as Mike Tyson would say.

I will give you that my post is pure rambling and for that I am sorry but hey it's my right to freedom of speech... hehe
