Sound alarm
:-?
Can you explain a bit more?
:-?

What are you talking about?
If what you want is to change the Alarm sound place a .rng file in:
C:\System\Sounds\Simple\Alarm.rng
and that's it.
If what you want is to set up multiple alarm sounds depending on the active profile, purchase eProfiles from Psiloc.
You can download a free trial:
Psiloc Extended Profiles
mmmmm? can u change a midi file to a .rng extension? i have FExplorer and i have not got the above folder! i have
c:system/sounds/digital
or
c:nokia/sounds/simple/*EMPTY*
what's going on????
That's becoz you may have deleted it long time. By you or by the last owner of the phone.
Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps ...
What is the exact procedure for changing the alarm tone with file explorer,if its not too much trouble.
It's easy, just follow this steps:
1- Send the .rng file you want to the phone (via irDa or BT)
2- Open FileManager
3- Go to C:\System\Mail
4- Search for *.rng
5- Cut the .rng file
6- Go to C:\System\Sounds\Simple\
7- Paste it as alarm.rng
8- Exit FileManager
9- Go to Messaging
10 - WITHOUT OPENING the mesage, delete it.
Cheers for that, but can you paste an existing tone from the phone or does it have to be sent to the mail file and done that way?
how do you send stuff to your phone from the PC? via IR i mean.. and vice versa
via an infra red hub

Search the forum for that answer, sure you'll find what you're looking for!!
Tried and tested and not working, what am i doing wrong, are file manager/explorer one of the same,as monday morning looms the alarm sound plot thickens!
if i take the discussion right, you intend to change the alarm sound of the 7650. if this is the case, get eProfiles or WorldClock pro from www.psiloc.com. these apps will change your alarm sound, even the calendar alarm sound. they can actually do a lot more.
If you intend on changing the alarm, i agree that it is only possible by using eProfiles/World Clock or similar.... deathmonger, i think you'll find that the alarm.rng file is stored on the z:\, so cannot be modified..

I'm not talking about MODIFYING the file in Z: I'm talking about the PREFERENCES the phones has. It first looks for the file in C:[PATH][FILE_NAME] IF it finds the file it gets it, otherwise it looks for it in Z:[PATH][FILE_NAME].
It works just like the register in Windows, if you place a .ini file with some KEY VALUES changed, those values will prevail upon the values stored in the very register.
So why is it that it doesnt seem to work - i tried it myself before posting to make sure and it didnt work...davetherave couldn't get it to work either... i know that the file im using is a valid .nrg file because i copied it from C:\nokia\sounds\simple\... do you have any help for me to get this working?
p.s. could it be that your way doesnt work because i am using world clock pro and eProfiles, which both have the option to change alarm sounds....
Find time tool 7650,with talking clock, only works with wav files, great app.

I doubt this is still valid. I've put in a .rng file in, which can be played using the composer, but the alarm tone's still the original one. Tried rebooting (like typical Windows), but still doesn't work.
Any idea? I would like to change just teh alarm tone, but neither sProfiles or eProfiles good enough for me. Each of them has their own flaws which I cannot accept.
