3 on 7650

Has anyone put a 3 (3G network) sim in a 7650? Can you tell me if it works as I'm interested in their new tariffs.

The 7650 is not a 3G phone (it is "2.5G" or GSM/GPRS), and if the 3 network is 3G (WCDMA or CDMA2000), then it will not work.

OT: does anyone know where i can found out about nokia 3g phones coming? because my 7650 contract expires soon and don't wanna get the p800 if there's gonna be amazing nokia 3g phones coming out,

Well apparantly some phones can except the "3" sim and I believe I read that the Nokia 7650 accepts the sim but has a refresh command come up (something to do with SAT). The "3" company has a backup network so if you are out of the "3" coverage then you will automatically go on the O2 network which is a GSM. I don't want to use the 3G functions but just want to use the backup network as it it cheaper. I just want to know if anyone has tried this and where I can find some information.

I'm with 3 in Australia... works fine when i put my 3 sim in the 7650, it just roams onto the Vodafone network.

Most Operators (i'd say: all of them) will release some new phone models along with their 3G networks. You just have to wait for those networks to be operative and running...

Nokia's only announced 3G (WCDMA a.k.a. UMTS) phone is the 6650: http://www.nokia.com/phones/6650

The Nokia 6650 already shipped, the first two operators offering them now are j-phone in japan and mobilkom austria. It's not series 60 based, so you'll have to wait if you wanna stick with symbian.

The phones specs look good. Not sure about the way it looks though to be honest. I thought we were past the stage of having aerials that stick out!
I think i'll have to have a play on it to see wether its worth buying. Not symbian though! Definately a negative point!

I don't think anyone is understanding what I'm trying to say. There is a company called 3 who are 3G company. They have 3G coverage in the UK and if you are out of the coverage, ie. cannot access video downloads or do video talk then you will automatically go on to their backup network which is GSM. The backup network lets you do voice calls. I want to go on to the new 3G network to use the backup network as you get 500 mins of voice calls for only 25. Has anyone in the UK tried putting the 3 sim in a 7650?
