Now here's what Dazler and I have been working on for the past few days. A tool to allow you to watch ther All About ER6 forums and news from your desktop. Ok, so not everyone hangs on bated breath for the next posts (in fact I hope no one does), but this definetely goes in the cool category.. 😊
Works by XML and Javascript. You can view it in Internet Explorer or as shown here use it as an Active Desk component...
It'll be available in beta just as soon as I have written some docs and supporting webpages. Big thanks to Dazler who made it possible.
It should be possible to write a Nokia 9210 client too, but I dont have the expertise. This uses the new all about er6 backend (XML and Js) which will also be revealed shortly...

BTW you don't have to use it as a active desk feature, you can set the watcher where you normally would select you're background image (fully tested in 98). So instead of just using a part of you're desktop, you're whole desktop will be filled with the watcher page. Check my screenshots above 😊

This is very old
and hasn't been updated in a whole while ...
won't have the time to do so either.
But it worked like this: open the desktop.htm this page will fetch the latest posts every few minutes.
Now just change your normal windows background (NOT ACTIVE DESKTOP, just change it like you would set a image as background) to the desktop.htm
now your desktop will contain the latest topics of the forums when I created it. At that time we didn't have as many forums as we do now 😊
Don't even know if the xml files to export the forums still work :s
Well the xml files still work 😊 If somebody creates a cool layout, I might be tempted to update the whole thing ...

The script is capable of getting the last 10 posts of every forum.
My layout was one where the topic of the last post was listed and the full post appeared when you went over it with your mouse. If you clicked the forum you would get the last 10 posts.
so if anyone feels like creating a cool desktop background with the latest AAS posts pls do 😊
