Nokia 6600 just another fad..

16 replies · 3,610 views · Started 21 June 2003

nokia released a lot of new models and of course consumers will buy those phones thinking that if they have the latest in terms of features and model. 7650 is being phased out here in the philippines and i wonder what will happen to 7650 users. right now there is a new model (N6600) which will be released soon. i switched to SE P800 because i believe in the stability of the product and i know i will not change my phone in the the next two years unless SE will release the successor of my phone. would the new N6600 fall out as another fad?

Not just phones

it is called technologies and almost everyday things changes

and if we have the $ then try it or if u like one then buy it

for technologies u can't wait and wait over and over to get the best product cos when u wait for the one then there gonna be another thing that much more powerful cos that's what we called technologies 😃

that's what i also believe. it is the technology that gives us the urge to buy these phones, but look how SE develops and integrated these technologies to their phones.
i know i will not change my phone in the the next two years unless SE will release the successor of my phone.
And there's the reason why SE has lost the race. Even LG sells more phones than SE nowadays. Thats terrible for a once mighty Ericsson.

Nokias' trick is to have a huge selection of new phones available all the time. And it works. I'm not saying its good for everyone, for certain not for you, but overall its the best business practise.

Guys.. Get this right. N6600 is a SMARTPHONE whereas P800 is a PDA-PHONE. Different perspective.

And especially so that each model isn't supposed to have all the nice features, instead there's segmentation; different models appeal to various target groups.

Then there are people like me, who need two or more phones, e.g one small basic phone and a smartphone as more an business tool.

I've had my 7650 since July 2002 and when the 6600 comes out in 4Q of 2003, I'm more than ready to change to a new model. Actually I would have been disappointed if Nokia hadn't announced new S60 model/s) this year.

edit: some typos away

edit 2: 4Q

Ebo, you're right. Having so many phones in the market, nokia can segment it. Sony Ericsson has about 6/8, so if you don't have a phone that suits you you won't buy any. It's difficult that no Nokia phone suits you. Even if it has some missing features...

But... ebo... are you confident on Q3??

No, it was an unfortunate typo. 😞

Nokia has estimated that it's 4Q/2003 and I don't recall any model that would have shipped much earlier. And now there isn't even very long time til 4Q.

i say 6-9 months till 6600 is out.

I want to be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if n6600 is released only in 2004...

I was waiting for a very long time for the 7210 and that shipped MUCH later then the announced date.

as always if ever 6600 is released by end of the year it is advisable to buy the next firmware upgraded phone. so possible early 2004!

I'm going to wait for SE P810. Which has 1,3 megapixel camera.
