Boring!

Well they've really been inovative with the 6600. They could have made it smaller, added MP3, a higher resolution camera or something. Great another re packaged 7650! Boring!

When posting something that might start a riot, check your facts, the 6600 will have mp3,like any series 60 device. The size does no bother me,but i agree that its a another repackaged 7650,and yes, nothing new, nothing exciting.

hmm, i dont think so, you just have to be more creative with it. there are enough programmes to play mp3 on the internet...
only wonder, would it support 256 mmc cards?

greetzzz

The only issue with the 6600 having MP3 files on it (and won't you need a 3rd party player for them anyway) is that the sound output is mono.

Think I'll leave music playing to my minidisc player 😊

Who wants to listen to mp3s in mono? I would be nice not to always have to take my phone and my Ipod everywhere i go.

My point is that they haven't added anything new to this phone. I would have brought it had it been offering something *like* a 1Mpixel camera or an MP3 player. With the 6600 i might as well keep my 7650 and use the new contract subsidy i get from my operator to buy a P800 a N-gage or something else.

There's nothing innovative about this phone.

I agree with the last post. i think I will use my new contract subsidy to buy the N-Gage in October. I'll keep my 7650 until a Series 60 2.0 stereo phone with fm-radio comes out.

Why don't you read the N-Gage website or see the E3 Investor update webstream @ Nokia.com. The N-Gage will be globally available on Oct. 7!

Well, because jimmy does not need to read, jimmy knows, jimmy is the law 😉

I agree,mp3 player would not be of much use with mono output but the device will still be capable of playing mp3 through a third party app.

😃 😃 😮 😃 😃

But before you totally slam Jimmy "the LAW" Floyd ask yourselves. When was the last time a Nokia phone appeared when promised?

Since when did you hear them announce a specific date so far in advance?

I suspect this will be the date because they are probably planning a big publicity campaign to go with the launch.

When did Nokia ever announce the exact day of arrival of a phone?

cassius it doesn't need to be an exact day to make them pass that date. As I remember, n7650 was expected to be released in Q2 2002 and it only came to stores in Q3, but I know that some of you will say "But the shipments started in the 28th June, so technically it's Q2..."

But your thoughts are up to you. I think Nokia shouldn't make us wait so much, but in the other hand, I understand why they do this... Knowing that a new nokia will arrive in the end of the year, not all sx1 buyers will buy n6600, but some certainly will...

i think this one will be different! Nokia will make publiciti worldwide and they cant afford to make another mistake...

i hope that i'm wright...

Racingboy is right. This is not just another phone launch. I think the launch of the N-Gage is Nokia's most important product launch ever as it puts Nokia in a whole new business segment with new competitors.

If they're trying to beat GB Advance they have a HARD WORK ahead!! Evenmore when Sony is launching it's own portable console aswell.

Let the battle begin...
