Extended Profiles: alarm tune don't work when phone is off

Hi,
I'm using Extended Profiles Pro and I'm very satisfied... but I have a problem. In every profile if I choose a different tune for the alarm clock, it works only if the alarm start with the phone on. If the phone is off, the alarm remain the terrible default one. Could you please help me please? I've already tried to install/reinstall, etc. but no way.

thanks in advance

so you mean the alarm does work when the phone is turned off? well i havent tried that cos my phone is always on

sory forgot to login

huh ???

i think the problem is if u turned the phone off the and when alarm ringing the default sound is ringing not the one that u personalise isn't it ???

if it is yes of course cos u set the alarm tone with a program which is the Eprofiles and for the alarm tone to be the one u personalised the program must be run

i think i explained a bit confusing lol

the point is the alarm will ringing the default sound if u turned off eprofiles
so in the other words if u turned off the phone, Eprofiles also turned off and there is no way u can do for the alarm

I have the same problem with eProfiles.

Ask yourself why you turn the phone off. I used to do that, but now I simply set up a schedule to switch the phone onto silent at midnight (the time I don't want any calls after) and back to another profile when I wake up in the morning. Easy as 😊

Why even use eProfiles? Symbianware's Smart Profiles program does NOT suffer from such problems as the original poster described. But don't take my word for it, just go to their website http://www.symbianware.com/ and download a trial version.

SmartProfiles is superior to eProfiles.

I like this program too, but it crashes my phone, sadly 😞

Anyone else having problems with Smartprofiles?

Maybe I'll wait another version...

I've just very intensely tested SmartProfiles 1.03 and... the same. The personalized alarm clock works only when the phone is on, when it start with the device off, the tone is the standard one.

I'm real confused now.. and still searching for a way to change the tone (without leaving the phone on 😉 )

What you are looking for is a HARDWARE solution. When you turn the phone off all the software that is running is terminated. Thus only features that are implemented on the h/w level can work. I.e. you will no find any program that will allow you to change the behaviour of the phone when it is off.

On an unrelated topic I am still trying to figure out how to get that nice "someone wrote" before the quotation instead of "quote". Someone please help... 😮ops:

The real solution would be to substitute the file alarm.rng in the drive z:, but it is read only :-/

I've read in the forum that if you put the alarm.rng in the folder c:\system\sound\simple, it ovverrides the one in z:\system\sound\simple

Could it be possible? From my testing I think no, but I would like other opinions.

Bye

hmm.. well this is what is on my mind

when the phone is off the alarm is ringning the phone must boot something to make the alarm rings isn't it

then when for example the phone need an alarm.exe to make the alarm rings while the phone is off, a program can be implemented so if alarm.exe = true then boot the eprofile.exe thingy

dunno if this is how 7650 thinks 😃 😃 😃

I've tried uploading other .rng tones to my phone's c:\system\sound\simple and named it Alarm.rng. But it does not work for me.

Can someone write a redirection from z: to c: for the alarm?

Symbianware said there'll be a new release for SmartProfile in 2-3 months' time. I'm looking forward to it. 😉
