OK it's here. I now have my Wavelinker Bluetooth USB Dongle http://www.ivmm.com/eio/products_wave_link.html
It looks so nice I'm almost sorry to have to hide it away around the back of my PC 😊

The good news is it installed without a hitch on my Windows XP machine, although you do have to install the drivers before plugging it in. Once installed there does seem to be a problem with the software in that the browser app sometimes reports an error on startup and will not load, even though I had been using it just a few minutes previously.

I can send files from the PC to the phone using the browser (when it loads) and I can send files from the phone to the PC. What I cannot do yet is connect to the phone with PC Suite. The BT software loads virtual COM ports for various connection types (DUN, LAN, Serial, FAX) but PC Suite does not recognise a connection. I'm assuming it would use the Serial one. This may have something to do with the fact that Device Manager shows an unknown device called "Bluetooth COM Bridge", I suspect I will need to get that working although I haven't yet found any other drivers for it.

So in a nutshell: Phone to PC, yes. PC to Phone, yes. PC Suite, not yet.

I've only had the thing 2 hours so I hope a solution will present itself over the weekend.
I've got the same device too, two of them infact. I can pretty much confirm what Analshock says. XP installs fine, although I do have a problem if I close down the software, I cant get it to startup again without a reboot. 😞 I can transfer objects to the PC from the phone, and from the PC to the phone without any problems. There does seem to be an issue with the Serial port profile though, since I can't get it to connect via PC suite.

In order to get around that problem, I've uninstalled the Blue Manager software, and installed the Widcomm stuff, that is shipped with other bluetooth devices. This installed fine on the second attempt (first gave a BSOD). I can now run PC suite without a hitch, but can't push files from the phone to the PC using "send via bluetooth". So, my daughters PC now has the Blue Manager software on it, so that I can upload pictures to her PC. My PC has the Widcomm software on it, so that I can have a bluetooth network between the two PCs, and run PC suite.

I guess that when the widcomm stack is updated to accomodate OBEX push, that will be the best way to go.

By the way, DABS got 50 of these dongles in on Thursday, and by Thursday evening they were all gone.

Thanks Anlashok and Ephebe for the update. Perhaps the fact that you're both using WinXP is the reason that PCSuite doesn't work properly. Maybe it's fine on Win2k.

Thanks again 😉

Don't think so, I've tried the Blue Manager software on my win2k laptop (same results - but I can close down Blue Manager, and start it again without the need for a reboot), and on Daughters win98se (same results).

In another thread, someone has posted where to get Blue Manager 1.08 (1.07 ships in the box) and also a new BTComm.sys file so that the software will work with the 7650. I havent had chance to try it yet, but here is the link:

http://www.itgs.co.uk/acatalog/Support.html

Even if this does work, I'll probably stick with the widcomm software because that handles the LAN profile in a better way. Instead of having to use Direct Cable Connections over bluetooth, it installs a Bluetooth Lan adaptor, which I can bridge with a regular ethernet adaptor, and then share using ICS. But, for someone that just wants to use bluetooth with thier N7650, getting hold of Blue Manager would definately be worth a try. The chances are that the majority of dongles out there share the same chipsets, so pretty much any USB dongle drivers should work with any usb dongles. If Blue Manager will allows OBEX push, and connect with PC suite, it'll solve the problems that the people with the widcomm software are having, where they cant transfer pictures from the handset to the PC.

Does that make sense, or am I typing gibberish again?

Andy.

Andy, thanks for very informative posting! 😊

I'm repeating myself again...but...

Has anyone got Epox BT-DG02 working?

http://www.epox.nl/english/products/wireless/dongle.htm

Above mentioned Epox BT-dongle uses WidComm-software and can't handle OBEX push. Has anyone tried this Blue Manager or other drivers with Epox? What chipset this Epox uses? Come on, somebody must have this dongle too!

Any information about upgraded drivers to Epox/WidComm software are appreciated.

Oh yes, by the way...mailed to Epox about this problem...they didn't bother to answer...some customer care.
