It's not a case of "power to the people" - it's a case of being fair to those on narrowband really.
It's really unfair to expect their pages to take longer to load because of an avatar.
I'm sure if you just reduced the size to the average avatar size, it would be a lot more acceptable - after all it's 500 kilobytes, almost half a megabyte. I remember my 56k days, when it took around 10 minutes to download 1mb, theoretically it would mean 5 minutes to download half a megabyte - so 5 minutes to view a page because of your avatar is hardly fair in my honest opinion... If it were smaller, the file size would be reduced, and so there would be far less complaints 😉

How about running a poll on what type of connections people use? That might give some idea on what the problem is. I have nothing against the picture itself, more explicit ones have been posted previously. But it may really annoy people with slow modems.
I think members should follow moders/admins asks..j2k told me to remove f**** on my avatar,and i did it,.AND now i am using GPRS internet,the speed is very slow.,and its big problem for me to open page,where you have posted message.

I'm afraid this subject isn't up for discussion anymore, please reduce the size of your avatar, it's getting pretty annoying.
a 1/2 MB avatar is unacceptable...reduce the size and chop it a bit with a gif editor or something.

hmm.. i personally dont have any problems viewing it but for others with slower modems, it might cause a bit of a problem so reducing it a bit might be good......
