i just had this weired problem a few days bck with my 9210i
sometimes the left soft key ,send button, 1, 4 7, and* buttons all stof responding at once
the only to get control over these buttons again is to turn the phone on and off a couple of times remove the battery and hit the phone
is this normal or should i take the phone back to the dealer (its still on warranty)
thnx

i guess i should do so this phone is only 2 wks old and it never fell from me
i have started to hate nokia

I've allways found that nokia had the worst quality in fones, ericsson rulez, but that's just my opinion 😉

Oh man... blame nokia!!! GO!!!

well the nokia dealer did try to fix the prob but...
it worked well for only a few days and no this prob is back
i'm not gonna buy a nokia ever again

Under UK Sale of Good Act, don't forget that you can demand an exchange or full refund (your choice, not retailers)of any product, no matter what a contract may say. Also note that under EU Trade Laws, it is assumed that the product was faulty, or had the inherent fault, when you purchsed the goods unless they can prove it happenedafterwards, and they have to shoulder the burden. But you'll have an exchange anyway...

I am absolutely amazed that the dealer didn't do the decent thing and exchange the unit for a new one that isn't broken!

Call your local Club Nokia line (check on the website for the numbers if need be) and explain the situation to them. I am not sure where you are in the world, but here in the UK they will arrange for a courier collection at no cost to yourself and a new unit will be with you within days - they may even arrange for a doorstep exchange.

You may not like Nokia right now, but their customer service really is superb IMHO. For example - I bought a second hand 9210 from eBay. It turned out to be an early unit running the very first OS release. Doing the info trick I discovered that the date shown was a month out of the year warranty that covers Nokia hardware. A quick call to the Club Nokia folk, who transferred me to the special Communicator Centre people, and a nice young lady took the IMEI number and told me that it still had a month to run under warranty - the date revealed by the unit OS was just the date of manufacture rather than sale. She arranged courier collection and 3 days later I had the 9210 back running 4.13 and with all the latest Nokia apps installed.

Please stick with them and try Nokia HQ rather than a very dodgy sounding dealer, albeit an 'official' one. I can assure you there are much worse companies out there when it comes to customer service.

Oh, and let us know how you get on!

😊

well the dealer is the official "club nokia " 1 and i dunno ny other dealers right here
well i may consider buying another 9210i cause the customer service really sux right here and i don't think they will even consider changing it
hell even 1 time my father bought a car for $70 k and after less than 1 k miles the transmission broke when we went back to the dealer they told us that we broke it and the warranty is now voided
better import my new communicator directly from finland this time

Where is 'here' in your case? It sounds as if either the country you are in has extremely dodgy consumer protection laws, or your family has been cursed for not buying heather from a gypsy 😉

Seriously - in both cases you mention, the 9210 and the car, it sounds as if you have been right royally shafted. In the UK, and I would have thought most European countries as well as North America that you would be 100% entitled to invoke the law on your side to get these new items replaced as they were obviously not of merchantable quality.

With your luck I'd think twice before taking a wizz in case I broke it 😮

@ NoS-LiVeD:

I had the same problem with my 9210 before it was updated to V3.62.

The first version of the software had a LOT of problems!!! One of them was this!

If you don't want or cannot update your 9210 (at Nokia points!) you can solve this your problem by doing this:

1) Detouch the battery and open the phone.

2) Insert the battery

3) now you have some seconds before the boot-up logo (the two coloured hands) appears on the screen. Well, be speedy! Press CTRL + CHR + F and a prompt message will ask you if you want to format your Communicator, you will choose YES!!! And the format will start!

Don't forget this will ERASE all the applications, contact lists, messages, etc except of Operative system with the basilar applications.

kind regards,

Giankyc

mmm too bad i sold it already
