Browser of the 6600

Man.Sx1,6600 have the same browsers Xtml,and you can install 3rd party browsers.

I think this is a valid point. Nokia should think about such things as a built in browser (at least a basic one) since the phone has such easy connectivity to the wed through GPRS or regular WAP over GSM.

It has xhtml browser which uses pure tcp/ip stack for connections. So, no wap protocols anymore. SX1 still uses wap stack.

I seriously doubt that's the case; there's no sensible reason to drop WAP protocol support yet, as it'd mean many existing services would become inaccessible. And since the code already has been written and tested in existing Series 60 releases/phones, there's a marginal cost (testing and memory footprint) in keeping it around.

Note that the built-in browser in the current 3650 also supports some version of XHTML already (with WAP).

The fact is that 6600 has tcp/ip stack instead of wap stack.

The web browsing experience on a N6600 can never be as good as on a P800 IMO. -Simply because the P800 screen is almost twice the size of the N6600 screen, and as the P800 screen is touch sensitive, the manouvering will be better. The P800 also offers a faster GPRS connection.

When that is said, the N6600 will also most likely work with the excellent Opera browser, which should run better on the N6600 than the Nx650's because it has more RAM.

I also believe that Opera(currently available only to the SYMBIAN OS) offers a better web browsing experience than any other web browser available, even for PPC's and Palm's.

there�s no info regarding tcp/ip on the 6600.
the first nokia which will be able to run that protocol will be the 5100.

The 5100 may be released before the 6600.The SDK regarding the 6600 will be Series 60 2.0 SDK.

This is from PDF files i downloaded from forum nokia

Series 60 Platform 2.0 provides a dual IPv4/v6 networking stack. The new TCP/IP
stack supports a plug-in mechanism, where networking modules can be hooked into
the stack. There is also a new, simplified client API for using secure sockets.
Although there are changes in the TCP/IP stack, all APIs exposed to client
applications remain the same.

The 6600 will use Series 60 2.0 as an UI so it will use the new TCP/IP Stack,i guess :roll:

will the settings for the browser be the same as for the 3650 or settings for the tcp/ip will be diffrient??and will it work properly on normal grps like will it be faster then the normal wap protocol??

No; frames are not part of XHTML 1.0/WAP 2.0.

😞 I think Opera does frames if there will be a 6600 version.

Opera for Series 60 has been available for a long time now.
