When installing third party software, whenever it goes back to your applications list, if it ever disappears, from my experience, you should uninstall the application straight away and avoid switching your phone off as again, with past experience, when the applications list disappears, the phone doesn't book past the Sony splash screen
A lil' advice
U sure bout that ??? i never had that problem and so many apps when u install them leave u with a blank app list till u reboot it then everything just comes back nicely
Erm, the disappearance of the application list is a known bug which happens after you've installed a certain number of apps. It really shouldn't cause any problems. A simple removal of the mem stick, a reboot, or the best way to remedy the problem is to use a task manager like Tracker or Sman to simply "Kill" the Applications menu.
alright, i really really hope your right coz that's how i came across the freezing on the splash screen after installing psilocs color thing, but your definately sure that if the apps list disappears, i can either restart the phone or i can use a file explorer to close the app list?
Yep, I'm pretty much sure your "crash" was caused by something other than the disappearance of the applications list.
I have(have had) a lot of apps installed, and the applications list has gone blank on numerous occations after installing a new app. The first time it happens, after a reboot, the applications will also be reordered alphabetically.
This bug has been mentioned before in this forum. I believe many other users can verify this happening, and that it doesn't cause any harm to the system.
thank you dudes, i feel much better now and will continue installing third party apps to my hearts content :bday:

Quick solution to the missiing apps list can be found here :

System Manager (SMan) v1.1
Overview of program taken from site :
- The End Task, Flush Out, Snapshot, Refresh and Compress Heap options have been removed from the menu system and placed as buttons at the bottom of the screen.
- There is now a Run option. SMan will query the OS of all the software installed and displays them in alphabetical order, just scroll to the application you want to run and it gets launched.
- There is now a Fix Applist option that fixes the problem where the applications icon does not show all the apps you've installed in your P800, all the programs folders are empty. P800 users previously had to restart the P800 for the application list to display the apps installed. This options simply allows you to get back the list without restarting your P800. We hope that SE fixes this problem and makes this option obsolete.
- There is now a Bluebeam option. This allows users to send files via Bluetooth, something which Symbian/SE forgot to add in their File Manager. This was previously called "Bluetooth send".
- There is also the now famous Bluejack option. This option allows you to bluejack an individual as well as to do a proimity sweep of all bluetooth enabled devices around you (and bluejack them!). There is also a log file for all bluetooth activities so that you can gloat and see how many victims you have found while the sweep was active. You can also see this as a screen log (ie. View run log).
- You can also quickly disable SMan's hotkey. This is useful when you would like to use that hotkey in another application temporarily.
- We've also added a Flipclose flush option. If this option is selected. Everytime you close the flip, SMan will do a flushout of all applications in your smartphone. This guarantees that you do not have unnecessary processes running in the background that might eat up on your battery.
- Forced endtask is another enhancment for SMan. Previously, the endtask feature would get the OS to kill the process/program that was running. We have changed this to a "suicide request" where SMan will ask the program to terminate by itself. This has the added advantage of allowing the program to do a proper cleanup of all resources used and to free up the memory it has used before terminating itself. However, some programs would not terminte and ignore the request. If this happens, you can still terminte the process by checking the Forced endtask option.
I have this on my phone and can recommend it for it's many very useful features.
Hope this helps.
